04 lancer es Engine swap for 05 oz rally

Ok so here is the deal I currently have a 2004 lancer ES 5speed manual and a spare 2005 lancer oz rally engine (automatic) in my shed and i was looking to change just the engine. Idk if i should take into count the odometer because my current engine has 98,000 miles and the oz rally has 20,000 so would i need to change the milage or anything or what if I swapped the computer because the oz rally is all scrapped via car auction. plus any problems i should worrie about??? Thanks

The engines are Identical if your thinking the OZ has more power this is not the case. Only difference between the OZ and ES are purely cosmetic. The tranny does not matter you would just be mounting that OZ engine to your manual tranny. The mileage is stored in the dash so changing the computer will not change what your odometer shows. There should be no issues with installing this should be a drop in affair but unless your current engine is on its way out I dont see why your wanting to do the swap. My car has 94K miles on it and runs like a top even with 12 pounds of boost being pushed.

lol nice well i just want to do it because i have it just chilling there and i need a new timing belt, tension er and water pump so instead of paying all that i could just change my engine and have everything almost new lol. plus would i need to pull out my tranny too or would it be easier just to unbolt it and just drop the new engine in?

if you can change an engine, why not just do that work yourself. It take you the same amount of time to do it anyway.

Pull the tranny with the engine. Trust me I have pulled my engine a couple times. If you were auto I would say just pull the engine but with a manual there is just not enough clearance (well there is but its PITA for sure) Much easier to just pull both.
