Another CAI question

What's up guys?
First off I gotta tell you I just bought my 08 GTS as a commuter so as not to drive my M3 into the ground when I moved to DC. I had no idea this little car was gonna be such blast to own. Yeah, it's not fast, doesn't handle that great, and suffers from some very sub par sound deadening, but I gotta say, I love it! I had no intention of modifying anything as I use it purely as a commuter but to be honest, I absolutely hate the exhaust/engine note.
I know it's not a German inline six, but do you guys think its worth spending a few hundred $$$ on a CAI just to get a better sound? How much difference in the engine note do you get with say an Injen or DC Sports short or CAI?
I was really into the Japanese Tuner scene several years ago, so I'm familiar with the little no hp gains and the bs claims made by RS Akimoto, DC Sports, AEM, and others so my questions is purely because I want my GTS to sound better and there's no way I'm gonna drop a grand on an exhaust.

Just looking for some opinions so please weigh in.

I owned a GTS, sold it to get an evo

but to answer your question, to make it sound better just put an intake on it. short ram to be specific.. I bought the RRM SRI and it made my GTS GROWL. sounded real clean. hope this help.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to hear! BTW, if I didn't already have the M3, I would definitely be looking into an EVO.

You could always buy your exhaust used. That'll save you 40-60% off buying a new one. I see people selling them on craiglist all around North America and for really great prices at that.

Someone I know put a SRI on her Lancer ES and it actually makes the car sound alot less disappointing. She would always say there's nothing worse than people looking at her lancer car and complementing it only to have an RA or EVO pull up next to or around her lol. Although an ES isn't on par with any of its higher class models (GTS,RA,EVO), it still made it "sound" on par with them.

Hope that helps.

Get a injen CAI. It gives a nice little growl (not as loud as a SRI), but also better gains than a SRI. Ive got it and couldnt be happier.
