Slightly rough acceleration until warm - normal?
I have a new (1,000 miles) 2010 Lancer GTS with PZEV. I've noticed that the first couple of miles I drive the acceleration is uneven and a bit rough. Its not severe and most noticeable if I take off in a hurry. Once its warm (maybe 10 minutes) its smooth. Is this normal for a PZEV vehicle? I hate to take it in because something like that is an "overnight stay" type thing so the tech can test it cold - and I live 60 miles from the dealership!

CVT or manual? and how cold is cold? I have a CVT and there was a night or two right when i got the car when it got below freezing and it was a tad sluggish. I don't think it was the engine as it was the CVT. This was TINY difference for me and was fine after a mile. Hope this helps

Its a CVT with a 2.4 engine. Its not cold at all - its summer here in the Sacramento Valley. My mom also has a 2010 GTS and it does the same thing until the engine is thoroughly warm. Do you have PZEV emission requirements on the car in Michigan like here in California? I'm wondering if the two catalytic converters choked it down in some way.

No PZEV here, so i can't really compare. What kinda oil are you using? maybe its an oil pressure thing? i think the manual says to use 5w-20 in hot climates. again not sure.

It only has 1,700 miles on it - just bought it new in May. It has the stock oil (5w-20). I'll probably just take it to the dealer and let them check it out. I know what they'll say though - "The computer doesn't have any error codes so there's nothing we can do." I've been down that road before with my previous car (Mazda Protege).

PZEV here.
Yeah it's a bit uneven until it warms up, but it's nothing bad and only noticeable if I'm a bit heavy on the gas.
It's to be expected, I think, as the temperature plays a role in how the ECU manages the engine.

Ok let me just give u a word of advice (especially if a car is tuned), never run the car hard until its properly warmed. This will result in premature engine wear.
That is all.
