Question 08 Lancer Engine Swap

Would it be too ridiculous of an idea to eventually do an engine swap on this car?

Don't get me wrong, I know it would be crazy expensive, but what if you did it to this when the car is 10 years old? Instead of buying a new car, what if invested money into building a new engine and swapping it in?

I know that a lot of civic owners do engine swaps with h22 / b16 / b18. Is there any particular engine out right now that would be a good match with this econo car?

Its just I'm really looking into buying a different car, maybe some sort swapped accord or used s2k...but I still love my lancer. Could this car ever be feasible nice without 5 million dollars?

Evo X OEM short block: $1900

as far as we all know, the lancer tranny will bolt right up to the Evo Block, possibly head too. but if you need a head...

OEM Evo X head: $1800
OEM Evo X ECU: forget, but under $1000

so the whole swap cant cost more than $4700 and labor.

supposedly lol

Uh...the lancer tranny can't handle that, need awd conversion, need bunch of custom work, evo ecu won't work. The car will still blow up. Basically need to replace whole car.

= $10k swap = $26k-$27k accident waiting to happen.

Not to diss this car but I can't believe I bought this car, I was too young at the time. I'm going to stop putting money into this pit. At least its paid off...I finish Bio degree in 1 year, I'm just going to use this as my daily driver and buy something nice.

lol why do you NEED the AWD conversion? honestly, you could just be partially ghetto and leave the driveshaft disconnected, and keep the lancer rear setup. you wont need too much custom work, if any at all. why wont the evo ecu work? it plugs right up and you would need a tune ANYWAYS for something like this.

Is it possible to replace the drive shaft with an 08 evo x drive shaft?

i did a 4b12 swap , engine is way cheaper than a 4b11t and u can use all ur oem parts tranny , etc.. and i dont care what people says , u do feel a big difference, it has a better low end.Im pretty sure(im actually guessing ) that the 4b11t should be a direct swap too

So how much more hp would the oem aftermarkets give if you do engine swap with the 4b12 and add A turbo?

I found an after market performance racing drive shaft for the 4b11 if I would add the evo x parts to the 4b11 would it work out or would i still have to leave the drive shaft disconnected?

My installer is telling me that because if my c. Ratio the 4b12 will have a better low end or more tq if u want to call it like that its just harder to tune than a 9:1 or a 10:1 cr ratio (4b11 and 4b11t). But idk for real theres only one 4b12 with turbo that im aware of and it has the rrm kit so my set up is diff ill have an ra kit lets see what happena were are setting the bar a lil higher than rrm
