Ralliart radiator cap question

OK, search didn't find anything, so I'll ask.

Thinking about getting one of these,

and they say that:
This radiator cap increases the pressure inside the radiator, which enhance cooling performance by avoiding boiling even when the water temperature exceeds 100 C (boiling Point).

Is this legit, or is it BS to sell some radiator caps?

as preasure increases, the boiling point of water also increases. anything that increases the preasure is also going to increase the point at which it boils over. weather a cap will cause an increase preasure i do not know. the only thing i can think of is that a stiffer spring in the cap does not allow gasses to escape as easily therefore enabling the preasure to build up.

no need really stock one wont get hot enuff ... unless your thermostat gets stuck or something, you would be better off putting that $30 towards a slimline, especially if your going to do a turbo app.

I've always been a fan of small shiny things so I got mine from Greddy. 1.3 bar is also the setting for this cap as well. Upgrade? Not really, shiny, yes. Much like the tie down and oil cap I got.

One thing I've actually noticed about my radiator hoses with the cap installed is that they actually have a "filled out" as it'd be, I'm assuming from the higher pressure level granted from the radiator cap. Strange, almost had me thinking to go to put screw drive clamps on my hoses...and my search for the Ralliart Cedia radiator hose.

Well, I guess that does prove that it raises pressure. Thanks for the update, pjal.

And you hit the tracks enough, you'll see busted stock plastic caps due to excess pressure from all the extra heat they get... Then you'll want a billet aluminum cap.
