fuel pump going out???Need HELP

Hello, i need help getting my 02 lancer OZ getting started. It cranks up but wont start until i found out my head gaskets where wore out and also notice there was alot of oil in the spark plugs. I changed all that but its still doing the same problem, it kind of sounds like its not getting gas (wich i have 1/2 a tank full) so i try turning the key on to hear the fuel pump but i cant hear nothing untill i actually turn the key to start the engine, i had my dad get at the bottom to hear it but he says it sounds like its trying to turn on but dosnt stay on. I checked if there was any fuel coming out from the engine side and it appears like if there wasnt enough pressure coming out, am not sure weather if its the fuel filter needs to be cleaned or the fuel pump it self, anyone have any ideas???? P.S oh and one of the spark plug cable is no good, it should still be able to start wouldnt it?

i had the same thing. the fuel pump wont kick on till the key is turned over. my problem was the iac or idle air control valve. it would start but only hit maybe 100-200 rpms and would run good when i hit the throttle. the iac just keeps enough air through the throttle body while at idle. that part is going for $450-$600 unless you can get one at a junk yard. its an easy swap,2 phillips screws.

Why?
You said your pump works when you turn the key in the start position.
So obviously, your pump works. It's just not getting the "prime" signal when you initially turn the key. So look at why it's not priming.

ok so i thought the fuel pump turns on when you start the engine on a 02 lancer? Or at least thats what i read about on some other post. Ok what i got is not enough fuel pressure, and i have no leaks. I am not sure where to go from here.

How do you know you don't have enough fuel pressure? What pressure are you getting?
