Talking injen cai

I just installed my injen cai today I was so suprised that it was so easy to install I didn't have to take my bumper off anyways, does anyone know the hp gain on this intake and is it normal for the intake piping to be warm thanks....

My question is, just how warm is warm? Considering the fact that the intake is metal and underneath the hood with really hot things such as the header (which gets to expel all the nice hot exhaust gas), it seems a little absurd to think that the piping wouldn't get just a little bit warm...

Well, the term cold air doesn't necessarily apply to the fact the piping will remain cool, it implies the fact that the air it draws in is as cool as possible (ergo, sucking it from below/side of the car). I really doubt it's any big deal. A lot of variables should be considered such as the thickness of the aluminum piping used (not diameter, actual thickness of the aluminum to make the tube), quality of said aluminum etc. Plus, I'd wager dollars to donuts that AEM's intakes are more effectively manufactured and engineered compared to Injen's. Blah, off topic now. In other words, I wouldn't worry to much about it. Maybe some other owner can chime in and help you out.

I'll let you know next time I take a drive if someone doesn't give you an answer in the meantime. Most likely that answer will be later tonight.

Oh, my pipe is warm all the time. Matter of fact, the silicon joints were giving off a nice rubbery smell at first, which, made me think I had installed wrong... Gotta love Texas heat in a dark car... anyway, it's normal, just like Pjal said... There's no way a metal pipe could be cool to the touch in the engine compartment, unless it was sucking up ice, and even then...

Saved me a trip to 7-11.

My couplings did the same, but they're silicone and fairly thin so I expected as much from them. I really have to look into finding blue ones again...what a royal pain in the ****.

Funny, just came back from the good ol' land of year old big bites. Picked up the new copy of SCC, and got me a Double Big Gulp. Love 64 oz of Coke, but my kidneys hate me for it...

About the blue couplings... just gotta bite the bullet and do the engine compartment up in red. Forget what you want, do what injen wants... j.k... though, my original intention was to do the engine in red.

You're perfectly welcome for the trip save... that's about two bucks you owe me from gas prices...

More like $0.25. 7-11's around a 3 mile round trip. Gotta love the suburbs of NYC.

Anyway, I'll check my piping for the hell of it later on. I've been couped up cleaning too long anyway. That's what happens when your room has 100t ons of crap in it and can only hold 1.

Awww, the .25s on me...

And, I have an efficiency here in Tejas with the wife... and we're both borderline pack rats. But, this is all off topic. Sorry.

It was warm for the record. I don't think it's anything to be concerned about. I seem to remember the thickness of the piping being 1/8" btw since you brought it up, p.
