02 oz rally
02 oz rally
I just recently purchased an oz rally a few months ago...Im aware they arent the fasted or easiest to mod of the other lancers available but im still trying to get what i can out of this one. my goal is 200 to 250 horse nothing crazy i just prefer a car with some umph! if you will. Ive already put a cold air kit on it and a cat back exaust. im planning on getting some headers and a new cam as well any other ides?
if you want 200+ hp you'll need forced induction, so you'd be wasting your money with headers...it IS possible to reach those goals without a turbo, but it would cost a LOT more than just getting a turbo kit, or building a turbo kit yourself...there's actually quite a bit of performance parts out there for your car, try finding parts for an 04-06 ralliart...
thanks i didnt know the 04-06 raliart parts were compatible given the difference in engine the ralliart is a 2.4 dohc and mine is a 2.0 sohc however i will look into it. guess that kinda means i wasted my money on a cold air kit too if im gonna go with forced induction to achieve the hp i want.
no i meant just try finding parts for the ralliart...it's hard, they are few and far between. The engine parts are not interchangeable, but many chassis and body parts are...
Intake isn't overly expensive, and makes the car sound good in the meantime...but 250hp is a tall order for non-turbo 2.0L... the 2.4L MIVEC 4G69 (ralliart) will make 250hp at around 8psi intercooled, depending on flow, so the 4G94 would need a little bit more than that...
i've heard horror stories of people going full bolt-on, intake/ full exhaust , port and polish, cams, tuning etc. and gaining less than 30hp...price vs power, turbocharging will yield better results...and you can use stock internals to start...beware, boost is highly addictive, and more power means more stuff is likely to break...and don't forget you need a clutch that can handle the power, if it's a manual 5-speed that is...

I was able to achieve 222whp on about $2500 budget. at 15psi though. Now thats also with me self tuning the car and me kinda cheating and just raising the boost and mildly tuning timing to achieve the power (In my mind its safer with my stock block lol). Im sure if I had a built motor and pro tune I could get more power at less boost.

You will not make the power you want without turbocharging the car. This costs a fair bit of money (few grand for a slapped together setup, $5000+ for a nice setup) and obviously comes with tradeoffs (the car was not designed to be turbocharged from the factory). Personally I wouldn't spend the money as you'll never get it back; you're better off saving it for a different car. However, this doesn't mean don't mod the car. With some suspension bits, a Lancer can handle pretty damn well. A few tasteful mods, like a new grill, Evo Recaros, Evo Momo steering wheel, etc. can make it look really good too.
No one has made that power NA on a 4G94 Lancer. People have claimed to have hit 200 HP without any form of forced induction but it's never been proven.

Until it's been done, we don't know if it's possible. I suspect that without doing major modifications, like a head and/or block swap, the 4G94 can't hit 200 HP NA. Most of the parts would be custom one offs too so the cost would be crazy.
Is this a good kit? I'm only planning on running 6-8 psi until I can upgrade engine internals.
