Question
but... back to a question i asked a little earlier, is K&N really that much better than every other muffler out there? can you like feel a gain difference between k&n verse somethign else?
I think they answered that already... K&N filters are washable while regular ones are cotton and have to be thrown away. As far as horsepower, there are small gains from switching to a K&N as they are designed for greater airflow, and even more gains from switching to a conical filter (used in SRI and CAI setups) since you have more surface area on the filter = more air getting through and into the intake. Now if you're asking if K&N conical filters are better than the copies, I don't see much difference. The shape and materials seem the same, but I don't know how much engineering is required in making an air filter.
btw, you might want to edit that post, as I am sure you meant to ask about K&N intake filter. I am not aware of K&N making exhaust systems as of yet.

I originally asked if I needed to buy a Injen filter, the K&N is someone else's idea for a replacement. I'm new to the aftermarket so I thought it had to be a Injen filter if I was going to replace it. Do you know the inlet for the filter? (2.5, 3.0) how do you check without measureing, and I threw out the box it came in. I really don't want to take off the bumber again until I'm ready to change/clean the filter it's like only 4 degrees outside and I don't have a garage. I need this info to purchace the new filter.

I would email or call INJEN and ask them. It looks like it's exactly the same as the AEM, which would be 2.75" in diameter.

Just ask the dimensions of the replacement filter for the Mitsubishi Lancer intake. When you get those dimensions, go to the website I pointed out earlier in this thread and find your filter.
