Srt-4 Engine and Tranny swap.

Hello everyone. I have a 2003 oz rally and I was wondering if I would be able to put an srt-4 engine in my car. My buddy just totaled his car (smashed back end, front end perfect) and I thought it would be unique to put his engine in my car. I understand I would have to make special mounts and stuff I just didn't know if the stance is the same or if I would have to make special axles. Any info would help. Thanks.

More than likely won't work unless you can figure out how to make the harness/s work.

Take the wiring harness and ecu from the donor car simplifies this--then you just need power to the ecu. As for the other issues a measuring tape and a lot of measurements FIRST would answer a lot of questions. Not a job I would undertake without having done it before-- GL

Yes it can be done. You can swap any motor into any car with enough money. Will it cost a small fortune? I'm betting yes.

LOL I love these questions. Have you ever even replaced an engine, on any car, with the engine that is SUPPOSED to be there?

My advice: Sell the SRT4 parts on ebay and be done with it.

Mitsubishi and Chrysler used to be very tight with the latter manufacturing some of the former's models for the USDM, cross referencing of models made around that time and a few years before may prove useful.

The engine and gearbox are oriented the same way, but the intake manifold on the SRT-4 is by the radiator, ie toward the front of the car and opposite to the Lancer.
You'd need to measure well to make sure the engine can actually fit and have sufficient clearance.
Half the fun of such projects is finding the solutions to the problems that arise as you go along.

Take your time and check it out.

If everything in the bay is still intact, SELL SELL SELL. Best option IMO.
