Need all info on "chips" please help
I own a 2008 lancer gts, it has a magnaflow exhaust, that is the only modification.
Im looking to get a little more power out of it at a low cost, I know absolutely nothing about chips. From what ive read an actual chip for the lancer is not available.
Im looking for any and all information about the options i have, i tried googling it and a few sites came up but they seem to go to be true.
http://autochipsdirect.com/Mitsubish...er%202002-2011
http://www.performancechipsdirect.co...ubishi/Lancer/
http://www.gfchips.com/mitsubishilancer.aspx
These three come up right away but i have a feeling all 3 are full of ****.
INFO PLEASE!!
THANKS!

If someone tells me about a chip in their car and the power it makes, I then know that they're full of shyte. Chips are like miracle tonic or snake oil. Even if they did adjust your timing and air/fuel, there is no way they could get close to your engine's potential without a serious risk of harming your engine.
You could have it tuned, but on a 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, the gains wouldn't even be noticeable. The money would be better spent on weight reduction or handling mods.
I've found that while you can always make more power and accelerate faster, you get used to it and don't even notice after awhile. Handling mods stay fun for the life of the car.

Chips are a scam for naive people, do not buy.
There is no way to get decent gains for cheap, and the expensive mods that provide decent gains are a waste of money on our car. You can't feel "a little more powered" anyways.
For example, a common rule of thumb is that for every 100lbs you remove from your car you supposedly gain around 10hp. Lets say you have a friend that weighs around 170 riding with you and he gets out of the car, does your car turn into a race car? All these people who feel more peep and response cuz they threw on a 8hp CAI, or any other bolt on are about as believable as those chips.
Anyways moral of the story is save your money and make ur car look/sound cool cuz it's absolutely hopeless as a modding platform.
