2002 lancer internal rebuild
Okay . I'm basically building the engine I want to swap (which I have no exp of doing )
I've been researching 4G64 blocks ,
do I get a short block or a long block ? Or do they combine together I'm kind of confused.

Look at the link I put in here for the 4g64 swap. You just need to go to a salvage yard and pick up the motor from the model eclipse they specify. From there you can tear down the motor and build it to your desire. But if you don't have a decent amount of knowledge about building a motor, I wouldn't recommend it. At that point, you should pay someone to do it. You wouldn't want to put 1-2k worth of parts into a motor to not do it correctly. The swap in itself isn't really that difficult, but you will need to weld in a motor mount and tear apart the tranny to install the differential.

I agree with 02mod, I know my way around motors, the different theories and principles involved but I wouldn't want to attempt a custom build without someone VERY experienced with it there to help me out. A lot of internal parts have pretty strict tolerances that will cause problems if not kept within the range, and those are just stock parts. When you're doing custom work those tolerances can and most likely will change, I know of guys who plastigauge things at least half a dozen times to make sure it's just where it needs to be.
If you are serious about building an engine I highly suggest getting some cheap books on amazon on the subject. It will help you understand and grasp how it really all works. You will need to read them a few times over to remember it all trust me.
Okay bad news for you guys good news for me .
The shop I go to says they can rebuild my motor and head and it will run better and give me more hp than the 4g64 motor . They will also turbo it and it will cost cheaper than doing the swap.

Yeah that's what the guy was telling me , but then he made some valid points like what if things don't go as planned or the engine I got had probs etc, so if I can get a lot of hp out of my. Car I'm gunna do that.
As long as you know they do good work, plus a professional shop has everything they'd need right there(tools wise). I'm glad to hear it won't run you so much, plus you'd have the full rebuild so not much to worry about mechanically.
I raced my friend 2012 bmw coupe and all I can say is I can't wait to get enough money so they can start my build . I'm not spending money on any bumpers subs rims etc until my internal work is done. So it will be a sleeper a little while after
Everything's done .
Everything's done .
