2003 zip motor CAI

Does anyone have experience with the Zip Motor CAI from ebay?

I know, I know, you get what you pay for... but this seems like a decent alternative to the $200+ CAI systems.....

I had one that was pretty much the same thing off eBay. Never had any complaints about it. And for all the gains you are actually going to get from an intake on the 4g94. It's not worth spending $200 on it

Now you're talking. You just got to make sure you're not running thru any deep puddles. There isn't a bipass valve so if it sucks up any water, you'll hydro lock the motor. But I had in on for 3yrs no issue

has anyone here actually tried that particular brand?

overall, their feedbacks are positive, but I have read the negative reviews, and although I didn't the lancer one specified, I did see several with people saying the cai they got for a different vehicle did not fit properly

and for the puddles, I can always get a bypass, I think....

here is the one I want, but it says it is out of stock, I would be ok with the black one though, and worst case scenario, the blue

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-2003-20...-/400606700598

and for the bypass

http://www.ebay.com/itm/AJP-Universal-2-75-70mm-Cold-Air-Intake-Bypass-Valve-Filter-Gunmetal-/191269297364?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2003%7CModel%3ALancer%7CSubmodel%3AES&hash=item2c8889dcd4&vxp=mtr
not sure what size the tubing is, but I will get whatever bypass size I need

That looks just like the one I had, only I had red. There is a mounting bracket by the filter, I never actually mounted it to anything. Never found a good spot. I just had it sitting on the plastic splash guard where the bumper is. Never had an issue

Im buying something similar off of a different website because it fits my exact engine but Im gonna buy a K&N filter for it because the generic filters arent so great. They never seem to last very long

Okay so I bought this a little while back and only had a couple problems. It is not a bad cai but the piping does have some pretty bad ripples where the pipe bends which may restrict some air flow and the paint chips super easy. I had a really hard time trying to get the whole pipe to fit where it was supposed to so I only used the shorter pipe and made it into a short ram and it still works great. Love the sound and it really helps my car breath better.

the intake has to be carb legal, don't know about that brand tho.. I got a aem carb legal intake in my car and passed smogg every time...

if you get caught with a non-carb legal intake, cop will likely issue a fixit ticket or he could just inpound your car ( possibly if u have anything else illegal in the car) for having a illegal mod. cant speak from exp tho.

but what I can tell you about this is I got stopped by sdpd few days ago for loud exaust and had to pop my hood cause he asked if I had a header and such(I think he was with dragnet) but he told me he works for traffic division. I st8 up told him I have a carb legal intake also with my catback and I pointed it out where my sticker was in 2 spots and showed him where my oem header was..in the end he let me go...

Yeah it should work. Automatic shouldn't matter at all. I had my filter under the headlight on the drivers side in the bumper. I doubt the transmission will get in the way.
