Oil light is on when standing still
Hey guys
My oil light is on whenever I am standing still or idling. Doesn't matter park or any other gear.
I am currently using valvoline 5W-30 normal oil, not synthetic or anything with a STP oil filter
Does this mean my oil pump is shot? if so where is at and how do I change it?
I don't think this is a faulty sensor otherwise the sensor would be on all the time
Oh yeah the level is fine.
thanks for your help

To check if your sensor is OK you have to hook up a guage and see if your oil pressure is in check. If its your pump, you have to pull off the oil pan to get to it. I would first try changing the oil to a 10w30 and see if that remedy's the issue.
Not a permanant guage, There should be a way to connect a fitting right over the oil filter (I will check where today). just watch the guage at idle and when you rev it. If it gets to low at idle then its more than likely that your oil is old and to thin or your pump is shot.

i would bump up your oil and see if that works. I run a 20w50, but i have a turbo. Definitly try changing the oil, if it still comes on I would get a check guage to check the pressure like what was mentioned before. An oil pressure gauge is your best friend. Comes in handy all the time! If none of that helps, then take it to the dealer...

okay guys...small update
i had recently added in a bottle of some kind of oil cleaner/detergent and looks like it took care of some of the gunk that was probably effecting the oil flow
thanks for everyone's help
