Cyl head and other stuff

http://www.boostaholic.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2253

Here's a link to our board with some pics of cyl head pulled/port and polished . . . give you lancer guys/gals an idea how internal stuff are done right.

He's a friend of mine locally that I have known for about 3 yrs. He has 3 project cars: Maxima, Mirage w/ Quads (Mitsiman can answer them), and his 1g GSX. Time, effort, and a lot of money were spent on all project . . . his quads are almost done . . . he has to email the local mirage guys to help celebrate/help on his efforts for the past 3 yrs.

Like I have always say: "If you want more power, you have to dig into the motor. Otherwise, all the basic mods in the mild category won't make you fast . . . feels fast, yes."

Also, expect similar (or very close in design) cyl head on the Lancer's 2.0 . . . remember your block is the same as mine 1.8L - 4g9x family.

As for the lifters, it's hydraulic, not adjustable like in the 97.

BTW: also, for R&D purposes, take those pics of his . . . he might not host them for long.

Blech...narrow little exhaust/intake ports. Spark plug looks like it fires at an angle. Curious as to why the Mirage intake ports have that "vaulted" section. Anyways, just some ramblings/observations.

It can vary depending on amount of shop skill and performance level . . . don't take your head to a domestic guy . . . import sticks with import. It can be be in the low 400 to a whopping 800 bucks w/o S&H . . . Dude in a mirage (different guy) has gotten his cyl head by DPR (famed for doing nissan engine stuff in cali like JWT) . . . his was around 800 bucks w/o S&H (picked it up himself) being stage 4.5 for a TC setup - stage 5 is welding material onto the cyl head.

I do believe DIM has answered that Q within the post. Econobox cyl head design for the mirage while the DSM is a performance beast.

bahamut,
hmmm prices don't differ that much, autoplus sportzentrum here in manila (their main office is in CA, right?) is charging around $600 for a stage 4.5 head. my friend's EVO V eeked out 40 HP more at the wheels! pretty worth it, i should say...

Fatbastard, I must point out that an EVO is starting out with MUCH more horsepower than the Lancer or Mirage is, and stuff like that is percentages. So, just wanted to put that out before noobs started freaking out. If I could get that kind of power gain, though, and make my boltons work better.... and at a fraction of the Turbo....

they're giving me a money back guarantee of eeking out at least 25HP @ wheels for my boosted 1600 coupe. and that's also for $600!

I can't really say about pricing from other countries. Stages of cyl head work is different from one company to another . . . it varies.
