Evo mas adapter on our lancers?
Can we do it. I was just talkin to this guy who said i could. He seemed to know what he was talking about. He said for about 450$ i could get one and put it in our cars and it would be a **** load BIGGER!
Thanks Peace

mas adapter....or mas sensor?
the 'adapter' is just a plate that bolts onto the sensor..u can get it on ebay for like $10-20...on ebay i bought an Evo8 Intake and it fit fine but the stock screw/bolts weren't long enough...have to get longer screws.

look up the maf swap post
Well....you can make almost anthing fit if you try hard enough. The problem (as I understand it) is that your ecu expects the values given to it by the stock maf. What happens is that with a bigger maf you get more air at the same value sent to the ecu. This means the ecu will put in too little fuel and you run the risk of knock/detonation. If you want to know more about maf upgrades do a search for the mef upgrade post.
it plugs right in. you will either need a standalone ecu or a piggy back that controls both timing and fuel. and you'll need an upgraded fuel system. but $450 is not worth it. wait for a junked one and get a sensor for under $100. don't expect gains until way after basic bolt ons. this mod is a bit much for your average ricer.
i'm assuming you're talking about the sensor since it's $450.

If we forget about the adapter, and the sensor. How is the thing it-self. Is the whole part bigger than ours. If it is, it might be a good idea to swap it and swap the sensor as sell.
So you would have the MAS assembly of the Evo, with the Lancer sensor in it. If the assembly is bigger. That would be less restriction.

doesn't work that way. the lancer, 3G eclipse, and evo have the same MAS housing and probably sensor. what is different between the 3 is the plate that's holding the honeycomb in. the EVO has no restriction, the eclipse has a 3in hole, and the lancer has that rectangle in a rectangle hole. so the lancer has the smallest opening for air to pass, then the eclipse, and then the evo with no restriction. the program written in the ecu compensates for sensor input specific to car and MAS. confusing? there are a couple threads to search for that explain.
I'm still thinking the Evo 8 uses a 609 MAF, not the 399. I have not seen it ever again in the showroom after opening 3 hoods of Evo.
If people are desperate, go to dejontools and look up GM's hotwire setup. It has a translator program that runs similar to the AFC. you can get those from any v6 berreta's and trucks.

hotwire has better throttle response than any karman MAF.
