I don't know why not. Isn't that what you are supposed to use? I just changed my oil to Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic. Walmart has 5qts for under 10 bucks I think.

PS- I will feel very stupid if someone says not to use 5w30...

Stick with 5w30... I think that 15w30 is for colder climates. If you're in question then just look it up in your owners manual. I am sure it says 5w30. I think the car takes something like 3.7qts... I remember it was something strange like that. Most cars take 4qts... but check that as well...

Wow I am a fountain of "maybes" and "I'm not sures" today... If I wasn't working I'd check the manual for you. Stupid work....

Thumbs up

Use only 5w30 in a four season climate which will provide adeqate protection and fuel economy for your 4G94 engine and 10w30 in warmer climates like in the southern states, do not use 15w30 which is a thicker viscosity oil for larger slower turning engines.

Thanks for clearing that up... now I know and knowing is half the battle... wait... if knowing is half the battle, then shouldn't the battle be half as long?

Bingo! I use 10w30 because I live in hot Sunny California. Otherwise, I thought Mitsu recommended 5w30 in the owner's manual so you should be fine. I think synthetics are a little different though, but I could be wrong.

Synthetics are the same, it is only advantageous if you only wanna change your oil 10000-15000kms or if your engine overheats and destroys the properties of conventional organic oil at elevated temperatures, otherwise its a waste of money to use synthetics. Take it from me, I have taken my stage 20 years ago with a leading oil refinery when synthetics were being developed back in the early 80s and we tried them on our cars as a live lab with a leading oil refineries. Just remember synthetics is only useful if your car is exposed to extreme cold or hot temperatures and if you change your motor oil every 5oookms its of no advantage at all except your wallet gets lighter$$$ ! Its all marketing ploy for you to buy more costly oils, yes they are a advantage if you race like in F1 cars which the rule prohibits oil changes durting the race.

Yes I know that, but I thought you want to use different viscosities with synthetics than in dino oil?

Dino oil ?, the so call dino oils is more advance than you think, in reality dino oil can last more than 10 000kms, except you oil filter needs to be changed very 5000kms and for that reason and since dino oil is so cheap, they get changed together with the filter.

"Dino" because it comes from the ground, from fossil fuels (fossil = dinosaur) It's not a derrogatory comment, I personally use dino oil. Anyway, I think I'm either asking the wrong question or you've already answered it and I didn't realize it. Thanks.
