Performance wise they are all about the same

Just make sure u have a good filter, like K&N high flow.

Cheapest most effective way i can tell you, is connect a highflow filter + heatshield to the stock elbow.

Or buy one of those cheap *** intake kits off of ebay, and just change the filter.
Or get one used off of here.

50- 75 bucks.

hope that helps

Run a search. Just about any Short Ram (RMR, Injen, AEM, K&N Typhoon, Ebay, Weapon R, etc.) will fit. CAIs won't fit an automatic though, so you're limited to SRI.

Hey man I have a 2003 OZ auto to and i decided to buy the RRM(www.roadracemotorsports.com) short ram intake. I could tell a big difference after I put it on. It is a lot louder than stock but dosent have a ricey sound. I think that it gives a really nice throughty sound especially when you you get into the 3000+ RPM range. I really love the performance with it too. I think that the RRM website says that it cuts about 3/4 of a second off of your 0-60 time which I think is a good deal. You do also have the option of going through and getting one off of E-Bay. But if it was me, I would just go with a great company like RRM that specializes in the US lancer. BTW, this is an easy bolt on when installing, but, trying to get one of the Mass Air Sensor bolts off of the thing is a total pain in the a$*(it helps if you have a friend helping you do this just because of that one bolt. I have heard other people complain about the same bolt b4 so I know that it wasn't just my car). Hope this helps some and good luck tuning.

I went with RMR because their heatshield does a good job of standing in between the filter element and the engine itself. It also uses the stock air dam for extra airflow. I have pics in my registry if you'd like to see the finished product.

The intake itself is extremely loud. I could hear it over my exhaust until I got full 2.5" piping done. And performance felt nice on the butt duno as well. Overall acceleration felt much smoother.

RRM's is nice but it is essentially just a high flow filter + heatshield. It even keeps the stock rubber elbow I beileve. But that just goes to show u that my theory is correct, good filter + heatshield = good intake.

Your paying about 50 or 60 for the filter and shield. The rest is for the RRM name.

Install is a breaze, One of the easiest engine mods you can do. You should search around and find the best price for you.

Just to comment on that. I have talked with Rob about their intake, and the adaptor is fluted to increase air velocity as well. Also, testing was done with a variety of elbows (everything from an Injen style one to a Home Depot plumbing elbow) and the stock one showed the best air flow... RMR and RRM both agree on that (and they don't agree on much!) It might be a minimal difference, but for those who race, a little is a lot.

The K&N typhoon intake system will also fit an Auto....You will for sure notice a difference, the only question is do you want to spend that kind of money, I personally think its worth it. but I also drive a Manual..

Pictures?

Curious if any one out there has auto lancers with intake, I want to see pictures well enough to convince myself to which one is the best looking since almost all intakes perform the same.
