something leaking can't figure out what it is...

well for those who were at the meet on sat here on Long Island some of you saw my engine and saw some fluid lying over the tranny. .L. and i looked at it and my oil level is at full can't be an oil leak and over the tranny? nahh.. brake fluid is good and etc. but i did have that recall for the cooling fans i believe done. when the heat is on it makes this weird noise.. u think something with the recall gone wrong? maybe they should recall on the recall cause i didn't have this issue before the recall.. so idk what it is theres soemthign leaking over the tranny so it sits on top of the tranny and burns when its driven so the car will not be driven anymore till this problem is solved.

maybe they put a recalled part in your car to fix the un-needed recall

Look carefully at your brake fluid resivuar and u will notice it actually has 2 separate chambers. The front chamber is for the brake system, and any eccess drains into the rear chamber but not vice-versa. the rear chamber is for the hydraulicly driven clutch release throwout bearing. If the seals are degraded on the bearing any applied line pressure will force oil through these, and it will leak into the trans bellhousing, and out a weep hole at the bottom of the transmission. This happened to me, I replaced the bearing for 120.00, bled the lines, making sure to keep the res full cuz the lin holds a lot of fluid.

If u still have a warranty im sure the dealership will be happy to fix the problem. If not be aware not much is available at the parts stores for the lancer. I had to get my throwout bearing from the dealership. Have u notised any weakness in your clutch, like it going to the floor?

Does the burning smell sweet? Is your coolant level low? Is the heater noise a fluttering sound?

I wouldnt worry about the fluttering noise, mine does it too occasionally. I think its something caught in the blower. I know that the system has a hepa filter on it somewhere that u can replace. Mabe theres a peice of paper or something in there.

k, i just checked my coolant level and its half filled.. under the coolant holder i can see some glare on some metal.. maybe i'm leaking coolant? but i don't kno about what liquid is lying on top of the tranny. my fan doesn't turn on really so myabe the leak is causing it not to turn on.

mabe u do have a coolant leak somewhere, since im not familiar with the layout of an automatic trans lancer i cant help u out much, but if leaking coolant is evaporating on something hot, like the block, or exaust, it will smell kind of like somebodies baking muffins under the hood. Ha Ha!
