Anyone drive on mountain passes? That's the only true way to measure handles. This car is "Rally-inspired".. And I found out why: Because it can drift easier than any other FWD car I've ever driven. And this is WITHOUT use of the e-brake. The handles on this car are meant to provide a minor amount of sway for the nature of rally. The body should sway a little bit. My strut bar helps, and I need the anti-sway bar to take full advantage, but the ES handles better than an OZ, and the strut bar makes a big difference. In my opinion, the handles are good if you mod them.

A rally car should have chassis flex (which is ultimately what you're describing)? According to that logic, the Evo is not rally bred since it has the countless extra spot welds and chassis reinforcements all over the place.

I'm willing to bet that the Lancer has a stiffer chassis than a Civic.

Oh in it's sedan and coupe forms yes, the Lancer beats the Civic. The hatch is a different story. As someone put it: the Lancer is the Sherman tank of compact sedans.

My point is that I wouldn't say that it's a "flexible" chassis.

And I said it was the Panzer.

tiger tanks. two of them. panzer tanks. two of them.....

you are right, ideally you want to improve your tires first, etc....but rear sway bar is cheap enough to do right away with little money, and will make a huge difference since it is such a functional piece of equipment. the torque loading is so evident that it seems to have broken the weak, cheap perches that it is attached to on my car. as such, i am reinforcing the perches (with extra metal and weld joints) so that it can handle the extra torsion of the stiffer bar. i'm not gonna buy rims til i can afford the ones i really want, so for now i rely on my stabilizer bar to upgrade my handling.

Oh, understood, but, I'm merely saying that if money wasn't an object, and you had to do something one at a time, then, well, it's ground up if you want to handle better. I was poking around the engine bay, and was wondering what anyone thought about a welded, steel tube four-point bar... Like a K-bar after the Cusco variety.... I'm not sure what their technical name is, and I'm sure that it'd be more show than function, but, just wondering.
