OZ,ES,LS Upgrade Path for Newbs- ROAD/RACE

Seems like this thread is kinda hidden in the EVOM site now. I am getting lots of emails about what to do and in what order to the Lancer. Hopefully this article on EVOM will help.

https://www.evolutionm.net/features/...e/rrmcorner/16

*note* - this was written a while ago. There are many new parts available from RRM and in general for the Lancer platform. Please don't consider this article the "end all be all," but as a good start. As always, contact RRM by phone if you'd like personalized advice on your particular setup.

Nice, I never saw that when I first joined. Turns out though that I've been able to follow most of the steps in order!

When I first joined in Sept of 2002, it was a fairly new article and was featured on the main page of EvoM. Maybe I should sticky this thread so people find the article easier. Thanks for digging it up for us!

You gotta update it now, Rob! There are so many more parts available (especially through RRM) to include!

Get the header. That will make a much bigger difference performance wise than the downpipe. Then you can get a downpipe, and a custom catback! Off topic - What anniversary will it be?

I have the CAI, but no aftermarket exhaust. I'm waiting for a GReddy Evo 2 exhaust for the 04 Lancers. Is the testpipe not street legal? Your site says for racing use only. As for step 2, is the CEL constantly on with the new header or just sometimes?

Test pipe is not street legal, no. It completely removes the catalytic converter (against the law).

CEL can be worked around. I took the stock cat and flipped it around (so that the 2nd O2 sensor was reading the cleaned air). Worked great. Just had to add 15" to the wiring.

How do you "get around the CEL" if you install the header?
