OMG YES GET THIS PAINT! My buddy and I did our valve covers today, and let me tell you...this paint is by far the best there is. It enhances metallic surfaces and gives a nice deep color. IMHO, this paint is better than the stock painted valve covers on the Evos. I'll probably be the last to post pix, but it's all good. I'm very happy with it!
which one do u like better, all you say is this paint is the best, which one the metalcast or the enamal?

you can view a pick in my registry to see what the end result looks like with the paint.
That's what I'm doing too along with my valve cover is the radiator brackets. I picked metalcast because thats the same paint Rob is using for my suspension bars. So now everything will match.

Looks good though. Nice job so far.

I'm just going to use 400 grit sand paper. That should work fine.

what about gasket? do we need to change to the new one or we can reuse the existing one? also do we need to clean the bottom of the value cover before paint & putting back on?

i bought some engine enamel at Advance Auto Parts for like 4.95$ it can withstand up to like 600 degrees or some insane number.. i painted my valve cover last summer and today its still as shinny as it was.. just make sure to take your time on it and it will turn out good.. but note for the first month i had it on my car my car gave off a weird smell from i guess the paint baking on the valve cover or something. anyways that smell is gone now so its all good..

Hmm... same thing happened on my friends Ford Escort,
took a while for it to go away though... It even smoked
for a bit.

no need to replace the valve cover gasket as long as you dont rip it off when take off your cover.. remember our cars are some what brand new (02-03) the valve cover gasket for our cars are good for another ten years probaly...

ohh and today i washed/waxed my car and i waxed my valve cover and u can see ur reflection in it

later

mmmm pretty. I how u left the letters silver. And I like the ralliart oilcap. How did you do the letters? Tape them off by putting a big piece of tape over it and then cutting around it with a razor blade?
