well for myself, I would not buy an RX7 or 300GT wahtever,, just the difference in insurance, gaz, repairs, etc..

I would prefer to have a good 13sec lancer than a money rippin' 11 seconds _______ (put name of fast car)

yep... to be in the 13's or 14's isn't bad enough..... id rather have that than buy an rx7 or 3000gt...... be price wise, i think you made a right decision on getting a lancer, who knows, pro'lly 3-4 yrs from now we'll have some new stuffs to put in the hood.. who knows??? stick to your lancer!!!!! it's better looking than most of the cars out there,..... as ive said i think ur better off if youre just gonna stick to your lancer instead of buying other cars..... think of the insurance, maintenance, etc...... dont get the rx7 or 3000gt, and definitely NOT A CIVIC!!!!!!! **** those!!!!

few responses
1. didn't make the decision to buy the car, parents did & they pay for it so no getting a new evo wit that as a trade in
2. thanks hobie for reading enough of my posts to realize i have pretty much no money lol
3. ditto on the engine swap, not cost effective
4. realistically i know i will prob never have a 10 sec car i just want that to be feasible/have potential
5. just wanted to know if people feel a 13 sec lancer is pretty fast
6. don't particularly like hot rods i am an import guy

now how easily can a 13 or 14 sec lancer be achieved? or how cheaply i should say?

For the money it would take, you would be better off buing something RWD, v8, and domestic. Serioulsy, if you want to go 1/4, which is not a bad thing at all, FWD is not the answer. Hell, '98 Z28s have been tested to run a 12.9 stock. They arnt that expensive in the whole range of things either.

except rx-7, but that has problems with blowing engines all the time and its kinda hard to modify a rotory engine,
Very, very untrue. The only reason people blow their engines is because they dont know enough about the car in the first place. I've seen many a 3rd gen run extremely well for the power output they create. Not to mention 2nd Gens, which cost half as much and have more idiot proof engines (single turbo, better cooling). The 3rd Gen Rx7 is arguably the best performance car ever made. You cant match it on the dollar. 'Nuff said.

That's only 3 of these "buildup" style threads. 2 by you in fact and I know there's more.

My thoughts precisely. There's a certain novelty to owning a quick car that, by all means, should be slow. Just my thoughts on the matter.

If you want a car that you can swap the engine with... get yourself a crx or a civic... get yourself an H22a motor (prelude) turbocharge it... you'll be pretty well off right from there... that's just my 2cents though

I wholly agree. Having a 9 second '89 Dodge Shadow would simply bring a smile to my face. In order to do this, however, you would need funds, and lots of it. As 'hardcoretuner' stated, he dosnt have that much cash on hand making a RWD V8, 'pony car', a much better solution. My .02 also.

thanks i think i am just gonna stick wit the lancer i figure i can save get a trubo and then just do more and more so i can turn the boost up
current plan
turbo > limited slip > pistons > rods > turbo cams > etc
thats the basic idea right now

edit: i can do that over a lot of time wich i have plenty of so its just a matter of saving

I've pasted about a quarter of the page below: A car that does 10's in the 1/4 mile costs $$$$$$$$$$.

Now, my 11 year old Honda CBR600 F2 would get pretty close but it has about 95 hp for a wet weight of 450 lbs. Get the picture? Power to Weight ratio and power delivery are the key.
