Motor Trend also said the car would be $20,630-24,560. You can't always believe what the car magazines say.

I wish we'd hear something on the price and other details soon...too much guessing going on I talked to a local dealer today about putting down a deposit. They weren't taking them yet and he went on to say he'd deal with me on the price as he would any other car they get...lucky for me. He is going to give me a call when it is time to order them. As with any dealer though he didn't know anymore than us. He did say the price was going to be 24-26000. I have heard the 26K # several times...I would be REAL happy if I could get a loaded Evo for 26k...

hey does anyone kno how much the evo vii weighs? i have a friend who wants to burn me after i get it, and he's got a 95 civic w/integra gsr engine swap, and he's plannin on gettin stage 3 turbo kit. think he could smoke an evo vii? as far as that goes he's got way less horses but i'm guessin that he's also much lighter in weight too.

The civic also doesn't have AWD....so it WILL get smoked off the line.

And some other guy on the forum says that there are 8000 Evos confirmed for the US. I don't believe anything from that message board though. What a mess it is.

The first guy that posted also mentioned that he was told at the Philly show that 7-8000 would be brought over. It may not be true but I'm sure they could sell that many pretty easily. There were 18,000+ WRX's sold it's first year here..from what I've heard the original goal was less than half that. I think 7-8000 would be a good amount to bring...enough to keep dealers from marking them up too much but not so many that you'd see them everywhere.

It's even better when you realize that the WRX has only been on sale for 8 months. 10k units was the goal for 12 months. People want performance cars. It has been a long dry spell here in the states. Can't wait to get my EVO VII next year.

Here is an exact thread that someone on another board posted. BTW, a dealer near me told me they were told they would get two...but then another dealer near me staed they didn't have the same limitation on the # they get. Anyway here's what this guy wrote:
"Confirmed 8000 to hit U.S.
The dealers are confirming 8000 to the U.S. with a supposed five colors:
Red, Black, Blue, White, and yellow.
There are only 400 authorized dealers that can recieve the EVO so if they are dispursed evenly over those 400, then each dealer will have 20 Evo's on there lots.
Of course we all know that they will not get dispursed evenly, my dealer has a confirmed two, both of course, all ready sold. No color yet, One is going north to the mitsu eclipse. gen 1 modifier and racer, and one to me.
From there they might see more, but no word.
As for the delivery date, still in the air.
My guy at the dealership will know in the next few months, and he will let me know.
He states that mitsu is holding on to it, cause there numbers on the first wave of lancers(i.e. ES, LS, and OZ) is not high enough to warrent a market on the EVO. "

I seriously doubtly the reliability of that sales person...

I doubt that there will be over 8,000 units of EVO (not that it will not happen, just doesn't make sense) given that the production # for the EVO VII is only 10,000 units worldwide and none of the previous version over 6,000. If he mentioned 8,000 US-spec units, they will either be EVO VIII or high performance Lancers (not full blown EVO)...

He states that mitsu is holding on to it, cause there numbers on the first wave of lancers(i.e. ES, LS, and OZ) is not high enough to warrent a market on the EVO.
That's just BS, the sales of Lancer exceeds the expectation of Mitsu already. In addition, the sales figure of Lancer won't be an indicator for the sales of the EVO, the sales of WRX is....

Just my opinion. Cheers

lets be honest here. They aren't gonna bring a low amount of lancers out. I seriously doubt that each dealer will get 2. Of course the demand might have something to do with it, but lets be real here. The car is gonna be just like the wrx. It will come ot the states, with a minimal amount. Than if sales are doing well, they will bring a **** load over.
