Question Blown Engine 4G69 swap

Ok so I know alot of people talk about it but I believe I am going to attempt the 69 swap. What I would like from you all are some intelligent suggestions and Ideas about issues I may run into. Today I went to a local mitsu dealership and was talking to the lead tech. He said that the 69 and the 94 should have the same trans but I may need a new flywheel and clutch but the should be my only fitment issues. I have found a 4G69 with 20K miles on it for 700 and the ECU and engine harness for 150 max. . Is there any other Items I should buy before attempting this swap. I am also concerned about drive saft lengths if I do need to swap tranny's so please feel free to chime in with constructive and helpful information.
Thanks, Paul

if you dont swap the tranny you dont have to worry about the driveshafts. and make sure the ecu is for the right tranny. thats all i can think of off the top of my head.

Well I am going to go to a junk yard and make sure the tranny and engine bolt up together before I buy it and the ralliart manual ECU should work then if I am not mistaken.

-throttle by wire assembly
-wiring harness
-ecu
-brake master cylinder(g69 is larger)
-maybe radiator support
-driveaxles might swap over. both side motor mounts are same between g94 and g69.

-exhaust system
-g69 MAS
-if you're doing stock intake, need tube, box, filter, and snorkel

***ehhh, haven't been done yet so probably a lot more stuff. hope you're serious. would love to see this done.

Yeah I know there will be complications but the largest ones that I am anticipating will be electrical and I hate electrical problems Look for this swap to be complete by winter time right now parts are being gathered and information collected. Its seems to be cheaper than a turbo so many more may want to go this route if I can streamline the process and make it user friendly. I will take pics and such and document everything.

I should look for a ralliart in our local junkyards.. on holiday weekends they have "all you can carry out for $30". Meaning you can put an engine/transmission ontop of a hood, tie a rope to it and pull them out for $30.

Take pics and document everything step by step. If you get this done with barely any problems then this will be a big thing for 02-03 Lancer owners this will be a conversion i would be looking forward to doing.

hahaha we have something like that too...not sure if its just 30 though but i like that idea hahahaha. it'll be hard to find a new 04 Ralliart in the pick-a-part junkies since most newer models get picked up by dismantlers first.

Dang, if you do this, write up a nice HOW TO: article, or at least tell us what parts we'll need. My brother's ralliart is sitting in the garage right now next to my OZ and he's away at hockey camp. Soooo... you know what I'm thinkin.. I can just imagine him coming back and being like, "why does my car feel so slow" lol. But good luck with the swap, and take pix too. All I can think of that you need is what everyone already said.

i'm really looking into this also for my car it shouldn't be that hard of a swap if you got the right stuff since the platforms are the same right. meaning if you got a front clip of a RA you could just swap everything over and plug and play but would it be a plug and play if you just got the engine, tranny, harness, ecu? i've been reading for the past 3 hours on this tonight and i havent seen if the 02-03 axles will fit an RA, will they? and would you beable to keep your a/c andf stuff with out having to make custom stuff i'm just trying to 2 c what the best way about doing this is.getting a clip or just the motor, etc. sorry if i h/j your thread but this would put ??? to rest

oh yeah, forgot. passenger side axle will probably have to be replaced since the g69 axle got a joint in it to eliminate torque steer. the g94 axle is one piece. dunno bout the driver side.

Nahh its cool... I talked to a senior Mitsu service tech and he said that he believed the transmission should just bolt right up but I want to be sure. So I am going to a junkyard and am going to put them side by side to see if they do. I am going to attempt just buying the motor, harness and ECU but like I said that is where I get scared I have done hundreds of swaps but none have needed an ECU so thats new. I have replaced engines with ECU's but not a full swap.

He's right. The 4G69 has an intermediate shaft. The 4G94 does not. The transmissions are not interchangeable. However, both the 4G94 and 4G69 axles have the same spline count. The 4G94 and 4G69 have the same rear roll stop mount and same transmission mount. I believe the front roll stop mount is the same size, just a different shape. They are different part numbers, but look almost identical. You will need the timing belt side mount from the 4G69. Now you have the engine mounted in. You can take it from here...
