Don't do it.

Mitsu called me last year sometime and offered me a trade in deal since they wanted some used cars to boost used inventories. Anyway I told the finance guy that the only thing I was interested in was a Ralliart.

He went to work his numbers and came back with a $3XX.00 a month payment for 72 months on my trade in.

No thanks.
With 36 payments left to go I prefer not to have a payment.

I'm thinkin of tradin my ES for an RA myself, but I think their pretty rare here in the Bay area, haven't seen many, and I can't seem to find many in any of the dealerships round here. But dunno yet, if I can find one, hopefully it'll be a good deal, otherwise I'll just stick wit my ES for a while.

There is only one RA in my area, and it is a wagon, which I don't want, also auto tranny which for me is a no no, or I would have went for a RA myself instead, because a basic no option RA cost around the same as my new OZ fully loaded with all option packages does. Also something to consider is the ES has a sh*tty trade and private resale value compaired to an OZ. My friend has an 02 OZ worth close to what my 05 ES is on a trade, according to KBB.com. When I say close, I mean within $2.5k. My ES was bone stock basic, no cruise, power locks etc.

I got $12.5k, but remember I sold cars for a living too. They were only originally giving $9.3k at the beginning of my bargaining process. The car had 12k miles on it too, ans I only owed $12k on it

Too much. No not really, but that's personal.

$12.5k for Trade-in value......that's the deal of all deals right there. As a comparison, I got my brand new '05 ES for that exact price plus 0% financing for 60 months. I couldn't even think of going back to the dealer and asking at least $12k to trade my new ES.

I have an 05 ES. I was told that it would be better to trade up for a RalliArt instead of the OZ since it's better. I agree, the ES is slow as crap but it get's me from point A to point B for now. I just noticed how much room there is in the engine bay and I'm itching to do something about it. LOL! OZ is better than the ES though.

Its probably just the wheels, the increase in back pressure and the general psychological aspect of driving a new and "better" car that makes it seem faster.

I bought my 04 ES for $10,500 out the door with all my rebates and the "one at this price" add.

My ES is still worth more used now than what I paid for it. If kbb is right, I can actually make $1000 by selling it.

The ES sits .8" lower than the OZ, so by adding an anti sway bar to the ES, you get a better handling car than a stock oz.
