do as wiretap said. clean it up and see what happens. if you can get your hands on a new oil cap that would be good too. if you can pull off the cover i would recomend doing so just to make sure nothing is obviously wrong...otherwise, best of luck to you
As far as I am concern I can have a big a$$ hole in the valve cover and it wouldn't bother me what bothers me is what caused it. If my valve cover is getting some oil on it and it damages the surface than who cares but what if it is from the inside?
honestly, i'm not so sure i am seeing what you're talking about. would you mind posting the pic again and circling what it is you think is wrong? your cover just looks pretty dirty.
well, i don't see what you are talking about either
But, do you by chance happen to have your stock oil filler cap? It seems that a lot of after market oil caps tend not to seal well(oil tended to seep out a little from in between the cap and valve cover even with a gasket). I have a nice injen oil cap but i took it off since it wouldn't seal well until i bent the part of the bottom of the cap that holds it in place to the valve cover, but then it also got really hot at the same time so i just put the stocker back on, seals well and doesn't burn the **** out of my hand. just a suggestion

I do have the original oil cap on but it leaks. The thing I am looking for on the pics I have asked you guys to post is the area around the oil cap, metal part of the valve cover. Since my oil cap started leaking it looked like that area got burned. The surface is uneven and a bit rough. Not a lot but you can see a bit of it on the pics. Now I have a cheap a$$ cap from an autozone and it seems to be working just fine. It does not get hot and holds the oil in place.
I guess I shouldn't worry about it.
