isnt the answer to this water issue just to get a Bypass valve ??

All a bypass valve does is make it so that there's an air inlet higher up. That way if the filter is submerged there won't be enough vacuum to suck up any water, since it will still be sucking air through the bypass. In short: it will only help if your filter is basically submerged.

i dont know if i read this on a thread on here, but i recall someone saying something that they had that acted as a cover for the filter? anyone know what im getting at? maybe i was dreaming haha, cause i dream of my car so much. haha ...thanks

soooo....from reading all this ive concluded....get a ram air.....you hardly lose any power gain on a lancer and you dont have any ?'s about sucking anything into the engine.....!?!?

well from what ive been hearing from people is that CAI is a little bit better than SRI (just a little bit)...the water thing is not much too worry about unless you live somewhere with mad rain and water puddles everywhere ... feel free to correct me if im wrong. Plus SRI sounds louder too lol

Injen and some other company make filter covers. They call them heat shields, but personally I think they'd be more effective as splash guards.

Except that there's really no evidence that points to water ingestion having been this guy's problem.
