So how did your fateful encounter with your Lancer happen?
well abou 2 years ago my dad wanted to get me my one and only car..i was 17 so i was like free? sure.
before that i had my moms old 2001 Mitsubishi Montero sport..i liked it ..exept it was an SUV but the back was awesome because it could fold down into a full bed
everything on that car was going to ****. so i wanted an eclipse...so bad a 1998 eclipse gs-t ... turns out i could only trade in my montero for 8 grand ...my dad spotted 1 grand for my 2002 lancer oz (auto) ... i think its one step towards my dream evo... start small..and sadly auto

I knew I needed a four door, but I wanted it to be a quick little car that my car guy friends would appreciate. I always wanted a Pontiac, test drove a few, but didn't really care for some parts of the interior. I found my Lancer at a dealer that my one friend's fiance worked at. I test drove it, and I loved the drive, it was my favorite color, black and it was just nice all around, and not too much $$. I waited about a month, still looked around a bit, but when I went back and it was still there, I was kind of sceptical, but I had to get it. The price was dropped and if they didn't sell it, it was gonna get taken off the lot. I ended up with and 02 LS with only 45K on it for about $7500 and a 3 year warranty. I couldn't beat that deal! I am happy with my car!
when i was 13 my dad's 1992 ford probe finally broke down after a good run and he was in a financial tight spot and needed a cheap car. so one day i got home from school and my mom told me that he bought a silver lancer. i was like "uh what is that?"(i didnt pay much attention to "realistic" cars but instead i was into skylines and such). after thinking about it i remembered the name from watching a lot of rally racing when i was little(i have always been obsessed with cars). the next day he brought home a silver 2003 Lancer ES with about 20 miles on the clock. it wasnt much to look at and i didnt care much for it until me and my dad went fishing and he decided to teach me to drive a stick. surprisingly after about 5 minutes of killing it constantly i got it down and started driving around the large empty gravel lot we were parked at and my dad decided to teach me how to whip her around using the hand brake. after that i was hooked. we started putting some basic stuff to it (most of the stuff in my signature) and he had me doing most of the work since this car was so easy to work on and i basically learned everything i know about working on cars as far as maintanance, electronics, etc. about a week or so before i got my license me and my dad went shopping for my car. we decided on a 1996 Audi A6 Quattro with about 120 000 miles on it. researched it and it was a pretty solid car. after driving that for about a month we came to the conclusion that my dad should probably take the audi and switch with me since i drove a lot more than him and the audi wasnt too economic when it came to gas. And thats how i ended up with my lancer and now i love it and wouldnt trade it for anything UNLESS, if i could get a better paying job and afford and evo RS(love the rawness of that car). well theres my long rant to add to this tread. peace. im out

I crashed my '94 Geo Prizm. Then I just looked around at different dealers. Went to Honda and they were *******s and there prices were ludacris for used cars. So I went to Mitsu and got a really cool dude and bought my first Lancer. Then I like it so much that I upgraded about a year later to a newer one ('05 OZ).

well, i was driving an 89 ranger throughout highschool. really nice truck, completely restored, but got about 12 miles a gallon. in 2002, sometime during the second semester of my senior year, i started looking for a new car. i was given an early graduation present of $3000 from my grandparents, plus about $2000 or so from my parents, sold the truck for $3000, and had about $2000 saved. knew about lancers since the 70s and evos for quite a while (gran turismo, lol) and i had heard they were to be released in the US. well in may of 02 i just so happened to spot a used thunder grey (best color IMO) es with tinted windows at a pontiac dealership on one of my many trips to different dealerships. didnt exactly know it was just a base lancer or the specs of it, and i thought the price said $12,000 (didnt stop to look at it). so later that night, im looking for cars online and i happen to see a used thunder grey es with 18.000 miles for $12,700. i call them up and sure enough it was the same exact one i saw. i was so excited, seeing as how i have loved the lancer since i can remember. went to the dealership that saturday, test drove it (keep in mind ive never even driven a manual car or fwd for that matter) and drove off the lot just before 10pm that night. ended up getting it for right around $12,200 OTD. put $9,000 down, had an extra $1,000 for mods and was happy as hell.
heres where it goes down hill...
drove it to work the next morning (sunday). everyone checked her out, everyone liked it. drove it home that night. drove it to school the next morning. and because i only had like three classes my senior year, i left school around 11 with a friend of mine to drive to the city to get my new stereo system. well, i wanted to see what she could do. so me being 18, never driven a manual car, never driven a fwd car, thinking i have this awesome car... i take it on a back road end up losing control and next thing i know, im upside down! once we crawl out the back window were both ok after a quite hilarious incident inside the car involving me being upside down and strapped to the seat and hitting the release button on my seatbelt...lol.
so the car isnt even insured at this point but because of the 48 hour rule or whatever im able to deal with the insurance company for about a month until they decide to pay the car off completely and then some! i owed around $3,000, they paid that off, then cut me a check for $10,200... so is anyone keeping track? i ended up MAKING about $1200 out of the whole thing!!! so wrecking my car, having absoutly nothing happen to me or my friend, and being without a car for a month, i scored $1200!
so in june of 02, i had all that money back. i knew what i wanted and found it. i called around cali to a bunch of dealerships and told them what i wanted. base model es five speed. so they searched up and down california and it turns out there were three, count em, THREE... two blue (horrible color) and a silver. i had them locate the silver one and bought that one for $14,200 OTD with, get this... HALF A MILE ON THE ODOMIDER!!! and thats the car i still have today. and in about 13 days it will have been two years since ive driven her. had a little accident and its been in the rebuilding process. but shes back and better than ever, just waiting for registration and license.
sorry for the long winded post, lol.

Well I was 16 and traded in my first car 93 Jeep Wrangler V8 (great sound) and traded to a 99 Wrangler I-6 (4.0L FTL), anyway I digress... I drove the crap out of the Jeep for 10 months to Maryland and off-road, etc. Took it to a dealership (not the one I bought it from) because I had slept in the back (not alone *wink wink* and had gotten wet because of the dew. I noticed the hatch was messed up, the tech said the car had been totaled and the rear fender was bondo, and the frame was toast, thus the hatch was messed up.
So, I drive down to where I bought the car, pissed off. I yell a lot and they promise me any car of equal value, just so I would leave them alone. I remembered a Lancer I had seen when I got the Jeep. I walked over to it and it was $1000 more than the Jeep. So I poke around for half hour under that car, in LOVE. It was small, light, looked pretty good back then (2002, soooooooo long ago). I drove it and I was hooked, my mom said it was too light and flimsy. But I pleaded and left with a 2002 Lancer ES, with 5000 miles on it. AWESOME. Of course not 6 months later I got rear ended by a van going 40mph, while I was at a dead stop. Got it fixed and sold it before Carfax got wise... Made money + Insurance check = Happiness
I loved that car, killed the OE tires, learned how to drive, pegged the speedo for miles, e-brake drifted, neutral bombs, and burnouts.... Awesome car....

sheeeeet!!!! check this out. i was rollin in a isuzu trooper 94, wanted a new car, right. so for the hell of it just one day out grocery shoppin or something i stopped by a dealer ship and walked out with a 04 chevy aveo brand new no money down.thats right a freakin aveo it was auto. after a few months i started really regreting it. i didnt even like the car i just needed a new one and some one was willin to give it to me.
so i got it some rims, custom exhaust, tinted windows, a system, dynamat the whole thing, still hated it. about 7 months later went back to the dealship said " give me anything stick shift and NOT GAY!". thats when i found my lancer. loved it immediately, i new it wasnt fast, but it was stick and not a civic/cavalier/neon/integra, and most importantly its NOT GAY LOOKING!
so it was, no negative equaty, and a shiny new mitsu for 9500 bucks with 20 some thousand miles. great deal huh!
GOD, a F#ckin aveo. i cant believe i drove that. uhggg!

This is an epic tale...
My first car was a Chrysler 5th Ave (my friends called it the pimpmobile) that hardly ever ran. It was a tank, a gun metal gray oven with no A/C and non-functional power windows. The sunroof only worked for the last month I had it.
I sold it and got a mid 80's Sentra hatch back. It was better, much better, and fun, but still had it's problems, and the parts for it where rare. After the clutch went I decided it was too expensive to keep. I ended up with a '97 Sentra, that was much more reliable, but much less engaging (auto).
After three years of babying and racing the Sentra, I was almost out of payments. It was the fall of 2003, the worst year of my life. That October, one of my brothers commited suicide. A week later, I was caught with a camcorder (which I was using only to shoot stills) at a concert, where they comfiscated a MiniDV tape that had all the footage for an Electronic Media (art school)project. That December, I ended a one year embarassing long distance internet relationship, and a week later I was rear ended by some idiot highschool chick. I was sitting at a stop light and BAM! She wasn't even paying attention, on the phone and hit me going about 40, hitting the brakes at the last fraction of a second. She was freaked out and crying. The back end of the Sentra I had taken such good care of (her father thought it was a new car) was crunched in. After everything that had preceeded that, I couldn't be angry or upset anymore. After asking if she was okay, I looked at my Sentra and could only laugh.
After a week of driving a wreck and getting non-guaranteed quotes from body shops, I was given the option of 1800 dollars towards fixing it (the price for welding on a used rear clip) and I would have to pay for whatever damage that was hidden or, I could total it out and start all over again in payments. Once this option came up, I began to cheer up a little with the hopes of a late '90s civic, which of course didn't pan out. I just wanted another reliable japanese car, but this time something that wasn't such a chick car. They hauled my fully functional totaled Sentra away (cold AC, everything okay but the rear end). It was kind of sad really, it was the first car I'd owned for such a long time (4years) and was very reliable.
I ended up at a Ford dealership. I hate Fords and nearly all domestics but was coerced into a Focus test drive. It was slow, slower than the Sentra. Next to it was this Lancer up on a platform. I hadn't really paid much attention to them previously but wow. It was a sunny day and the Thunder Gray paint shined. It even was already rolling on 17's. I test drove it and even though it isn't the fastest car and is an auto, it was faster than a Focus and much faster and better looking than both the Focus and my Sentra. Also, unlike the Sentra, it was modable. Almost no one made performance parts for a Sentra (pre-U.S. Nismo). This Lancer became my fun project that (along with a hot new girlfriend) helped me recover from the hard times that I had been through. I learned from past with the Sentra and decided to go much more go than show with the Lancer. It hasn't needed as much help with looks. I was so proud when I got it and I found a bunch of guys outside Steak n Shake checking it out. It was only the end of 2003, so the car was still very new. That never happened with the Sentra even when it was relatively new. I'm still lovin' it to this day.
