cd player problems
Has anyone else had a problem with the CD player in their car "locking up"? It just stopped playing the cd that was it in and the display froze. None of the buttons work and the display stays on when the car is turned off.
Any ideas? If not I'll take it to the dealership tomorrow and drool over the silver EVO they just got.

i had this problem... bet you were hitting the buttons too fast... well thats what i did anyways... all you have to do is unhook the negative battary cable for a little while to reset the ecu, and when you hook it back up it will kick out the cd and everything will be copeasetic or however you spell it lol
first: should be in a&s.
second: never had a prob with my stock cd player. never really heard of that happening either. i agree, does sound like you're hitting the buttons too fast or something. also, are you playing cdrs? maybe your cd player doesn't like your particular burned media. try a different media.

o he was pressing them too fast, not the media... im sure of it... his problem sounds exactly like mine did... he like overloaded it hitting the search button too fast... the display stays on but no err msg... it doesnt play a cd, wont kick it out, wont switch to radio nothing works on it, its just there... all he has to do is unhook the neg to reset the ecu and it will all be good.
got it fixed, woo. I did't have anything to unhook the negative battery terminal so I decided to reset the fuse. There was not a fuse in the inside fuse box. In the fuse box under the hood there was already a yellow plastic piece attached to the dome light and radio fuse, just pull and push it back and *poof* it was done.
I have no idea why they attached the piece of plastic to reset the fuse but it did make it must easier to reset.
