Good price IF YOU GET IT

I wouldn't expect to be seeing these cars ANY TIME SOON........The 3 people who are buying the cars should get together and they could do business with Mitsu Sweeden Directly......Im sure they could find 3 more buyers for $30K........Instead of FUNDING someone elses "Start UP" Company........you guys could start your own........I would KEEP YOUR MONEY and CALL Mitsubishi Sweeden...............And DO NOT get the phone # from EI. HEY GUYS HERE IS AN IDEA - WHY DON'T WE CALL MITSUBISHI SWEEDEN (WE WILL PICK A SPOKES PERSON FOR OUR GROUP) AND MAKE OUR OWN DEAL WITH THEM......MONEY TALKS AND IM SURE THEY WOULD BE VERY WILLING TO TAKE IT FROM US......IN EXCHANGE FOR EVO 7's.

and how would they be legalized??? Getting an Evo has never been much of a big deal, it's getting it legalized that is the biggest part.

Yeah, sure I can deal with them directly. I can also deal with RalliArt New Zealand or any other RalliArt in the world, and get the car here. Then what ? My goal is to be able to drive this car on the street every day, and it seems E.I. is taking the necessary steps to make this happen. I am still hopeful about this, we'll see what happens. But I still want to have some sort of guarantee that IN CASE the car is NOT street legal in the US for whatever reasons, I can get my money back *FULLY* and forgo my car to E.I.

I wonder if when the US EVOVII is EPA & crash tested, the EVOVI might fall under the VII US certification? Actually, it probably wouldnt qualify since I think they certify a block of VIN numbers which the VI would not fall under. On the other hand, the GTR is legal and I assume they legally bring over different models?

this is insane. nobody has a straight answer for anything. paying 30k up front for a car that you won't even see for months let alone know if it will be DOT and EPA certified is just not smart.

why won't EI answer all of these questions on this board?

if i had a contract of some sort saying i WILL be getting a brand new TME evo DOT and EPA certified, able to register it in the u.s. for what it actually is, i would not hesitate to buy one. for 30k, never 45k.

how will YOUR car be insured while it's being tested?

OK - WHATS THE DIFFERENCE???

Well - isn't that exactly what your doing??? Your paying for a car that AS OF LATE is NOT US LEGAL. They say it will be - After you guys buy EI 3 New test cars and they "FINISH" their testing. What kind of security is that?? Sounds like a crap shoot if you ask me.....and you can BET YOUR BOTTOM DOLLAR (since you like to gamble) that if they are unsuccessful getting the car US DOT approved (which is VERY LIKELY) - You will never see your money again.....and these guys will dissapear off the face of the earth. Im just trying to make you aware...I would hate to see you loose your money.

P.S. - Have you even seen any pictures of these actual cars (not that that means a thing) I was just wondering if they even gave you that.

What you guys need is a dealer plate! Back when I lived in NY one of the benifits of working at my dealership was getting a dealer plate for personal use. I know that is very unusual, but I had one while I was employed. It was so awesome...automatic registration, automatic insurance and automatic NY inspection on any vehicle I threw it on. Cops could do nothing about it and could care less... they had bigger fish to fry and did'nt wat to **** off the dealership anyway. Looking back now that was a pretty big benifit.

Since I live in CA, I will be able to see my car as soon as it gets here from Sweden, ie w/in 2-3 weeks from the purchase I'd say, and EI confirmed that.

EI just has way too many fishes to fry than to sit on this board and answer people's questions. If you have a question, call them. Every time I have called them and left a message, Adam has ALWAYS returned my calls, even tonight at 9PM pacific time, when we spoke for about another hour about warranty issues and such.

I will be getting a contract from EI BEFORE I spend any money, guaranteeing that my car will be in SHOWROOM condition at the time of pickup, among other things as well. I also drilled him on the worst case scenario, ie. IF the car doesn't get legalized for whatever reasons, I will be guaranteed to sell the car to a private party for the full amount I spent. IN WRITING, in the contract.
Trust me guys, I am a suspicious person as much as you are (no I don't like to gamble much, sorry) and that is why I am taking the necessary steps for myself not to get burned by this deal. I can also verify the veracity of this deal by calling 2 other involved parties, mainly Mitsu Sweden where the cars are, and another shop in CA that I will not name.
I also want to get the VIN # of the car before hand.

Thank you all for your concern, though.

I don't know the ins and outs of what you are doing, because I come from the UK. If you are happy with what you are doing, great. Somebody will get the last laugh and I suspect it will be you when you are driving allong in your TME with the biggest smile you have ever had.

Good luck, M8

I dont understand why making it street megal is such a big deal. Emissions? Just pop in an ECU like EI do and lean it out as much as you can for the test, it will produce like almost no harmful emissions, get the test and get outta there and set your ECU correctly. And what is that about the 5mph test? The intercooler wont break! There are so many cars in the USA that are extremely dangerous to pedestrians and the drivers themselves because of their ****ty brakes and roadholding like all these big GMC - Range Rover - Jeep type rolling POSs that use more gas than anything and will take a mile to stop and kill anything they hit with those huge metal bars in front of the hood!

Claudius, I know what you mean. I have lived in Paris for the most part of my life (tu parles francais?), and always wondered about those POS SUVs and trucks.
And in regards to the 5mph test, I have an answer for you: Sweden has almost the exact restrictions as the US, and also has that upgraded (5mph v/s 2.5mph) bumper specs.

Claudius and Simon, thanks for your support :-) Simon, do you already own that Evo7 eXtreme? How's that beast?

Yes, I really do own a 7 Extremeand its great. 340bhp and 350 ft/lbs of torque, better suspension (not in Claudius league) and a few other tweaks. 0-60 in 4.2 seconds but it is the in gear accelleration that is really stunning. 30-50 and 50-70 for instance is faster than a Porsche 911 GT2! And Ralliart UK give it a 3 year, unlimited milage warranty

Only problem is the tuning bug has got me and as soon as funds permit I will do some engine work to take it to about 370bhp and 400 ft/lbs of torque, upgrade the brakes and improve the suspension. Now, all I need is some money ........

I use it as an everyday car and it never stops amazing me. Most fun car I have ever owned.
