Lifetime alignment worth it?

I got about 27,000 miles on my lancer and i do need to get an alignment, so I called up some palces and came up with the cheapest one for $45.00 one time alignment. Some other place also offered me life-time alignment for about $225.
Some other shops quoted me for 220-250 for a lifetime as well.

My question is that is it worth getting lifetime deal or just get the one time only. This will be my first alignemt on the car so i am not sure what should i do.

Any ideas and suggestions are welcome.

i'd go with the life time....only becuase i drive lots of pothole filled roads.

I'd take it in as many times as i wanted with the lifetime...seems worth it to me

I dunno, I have 77600 miles on mine, lowered, and have never needed an alignment. Tires wear perfectly even, no pull to either side when I let go of the wheel.

How are you sure you do need one?

Steering wheel shakes a little when i go over 80 on the freeways. Below 70 eveything is normal....also i checked my tire pressure and both are even @ 32 psi.

steering wheel shake would be much more likely an improperly balance wheel. weights can (and often do) fall off, hell, I even had a shop forget to put them on at all.

+1, thats probably a balance problem. I get that problem real nasty in the winter when sand gets stuck in the wheel. It feels like im rideing off road. Take it and get it balanced first (not that pricey) and if it still persists get an allignment. If you drive on nasty roads go with the lifetime.

As far as the lifetime alignment goes, it's a good idea to get an alignment every couple of years anyway, especially if you corner hard and drive on rough roads as mentioned above. Most of the people I know who get lifetime alignments are racers who get it realigned before doing a track event or autocross, then get it switched back after the event. Aside from that, if you end up selling the car in 3 years, you just lost money because you no longer get the alignments.

Go with lifetime. You have a newer car, so you can get a lot of alignments out of $225. Some people say to get one every 6 months. Plus, anytime you swap out suspension, you need an alignment. Go for it.

Is there some kind of catch if you get lifetime alignments? For example maybe you can only get a maximum of 6 done a year or something?

even if there is a catch, 6 times a year ... you have already paid off your 250 bucks ... its a deal ... i just like the fact that you can just keep going in to pi$$ them off
