you cant use a manual one cause if the shift button is always down, it wont let you take the keys out till after you let go of the button. I just got a nice one on ebay for like $15 shipped. Its from Redline. I'll find a link and post it here. It looks good and it looks like a manual but you push the whole knob down. But it requires drilling a hole on the inside of it. not too hard though.

ok here you go, the bidding has ended, but you can go to the oter products that person sells and he has more of them. Also it says its for a manual transmission but it works for the auto too. Then if need be, I can post a how-to intall for this shifter.

wait a second... by using a manual shift knob in an automatic car, the shift release button is always depressed. Doesn't this mean that you could for say flick the car into reverse without knowing? doesn't seem like the safest thing to me... The automatic shift knobs and sleeve type thing that goes on first and is connected to the knob. With the use of a spring the knob can move up and down like it's supposd to. Think about it first if i were you.

you can shift without release button when the car is moving, the only time you need to press the brake and button release is when you are in park

its a regular stick shift knob, and no, the auto button is not always pressed down. I have to press the entire knob down to shift.

^ thats how it's supposed to be. It's an automatic shift knob. Not a manual one.

ok ok i think i was misunderstood. the knob i posted is an automatic knob, just the guy on ebay that sells it labeled it as a manual. It works both ways. Keep the spring and metal sleeve in it for auto, or take the spring out for manual. A manual knob WILL NOT WORK. It will keep the shift button pressed down all the time and yes that means if your not smart you could shift it into reverse. but with the buttin pressed down, you cant take the keys out of the ignition, it locks them in. When i get pics of mine installed I'll post them.
