Motor mount help!
Ok I tried to install my front motor mount today and I ran into a few problems. Firstly one of the bolts holding the cross member on was stuck on, it ended up breaking the impact wrench we resorted to using. Secondly I couldn't get the bolt going through the mount loosened. So I have two questions, can you change the mount over without removing the cross member and what did people use to remove the bolt going through the mount?
Sorry to hear that AT.
My front mm came off nice and clean. I don't see why you shouldn't have to drop the crossmember in order to change the mount. I did it, but it was way easier to change out the mount. I just used a socket and a few hand tools. i remember i used a lot of WD though.
Good luck and i really don't think you should have to drop the cross member.

You can actually get the mount off the crossmember from the top. You need a 3/8" drive 14mm socket and a 6" extension. I just went out and confirmed that this works on my car.
The one going through the middle? Brute force if its stuck. Muscle up dude and use leverage to your advantage.
Look at these pictures for that middle bolt.
Socket on the left. Open end wrench on the right. The open end wrench is positioned so that the crossmember holds it in place when you turn the socket counterclockwise.
The socket wrench is set up with an extra elbow. I use this trick constantly. It multiplies the force BIG TIME. You will have to use this contraption from underneath because of its length.
