no that perception thing makes sense too.
although i'd agree the traffic thing is more likely.
i'd imagine the perception thing still plays a part in it.

I feel pretty fast on the street sometimes too, then whenever I pull up next to someone who floors it and leaves me behind in a stock civic, then I come back to reality and realize I am slow.

That's sad and true at the same time. I wish I had room in my sig for that as a quote. Nice work

I was just thinking the same thing. Yeah I just had some exhaust work done last week. I had my stock cat put back on and the 2.25 inch pipe re-done. Not only does my car sound heavenly with the Greddy muffler but my butt dyno has noticed the much needed backpressure. Stock cats for the win!

lol glad you guys liked that. But it makes me sad cause I hace an intake and muffler and pulley and strut bars all around, then my friend in his stock 04 civic drives up next to me on the highway (he doesn't race at all, his is an auto too, hes just joking around) and we nod and floor it and he takes off in a stock civic quickly pulling away from me. I was also wondering on the exhaust, I havent really looked, but can our exhaust be straightened out any more or is it about as straight through as possible. Cause I see some cars that have there exhaust make like a pretzel around the axel and I know theres no need for it.

The exhaust isn't too bad as far as it being in a straight line, in fact it's in a good place, coming through the rear control arm. The crimped bends only leave about 1/2" opening at each bend, though, so that's bad. JCWhitney has inexpensive aluminized mandrel bends if you're looking to DIY.

Thats almost exactly what Im saying.

Think about it...
(Well, I dunno about anyone elses urban exposure, but Im from Philly where city streets are long and narrow. a Drivers point of view is more narrow also, because hes enclosed by the surroundings.)

Imagine youre at an intersection one night in the city, but the streets are dead.
No other "slower driving" cars. Just You and the Street ahead.

Now, Floor it to 85mph and stay there...

Then I want You to do that again in a place where you have an entirely broader range of view.
Like a Country Hwy.

Youll notice 85mph felt a hell of alot more intense the first time.

Ah, I grew up most of my life in Chicago so I know what you are talking about when you say narrow streets. But to me 85 is 85. I don't feel any slower or any faster regardless of what's around me. I think I pay too much attention to everyone around me though, and if there isn't anyone around me, I'm paying attention to the CD that I am putting in next. I just think of speed as fun, I don't really let my head screw with me like that I guess.

A friend of mine had a magnaflow cat on his car and didnt help him much-just made him louder. The only difference in a magnaflow high flow cat and a stock cat is the high flow cat is shorter. The less brick the exhaust has to go through the easier it is. I would stick with the stock cat. The 4g94 need the backpressure.
