Are you running with no cats? What size piping are you using?

Probably no low end torque due to no cats and/or too big exhaust and/or headers.

I'm sorry, but mod for mod a MT will take the AT to school. And yes to the loss of backpressure issue...

All exhaust mods=no torque. CAI isn't enough to overcome those exhaust mods. Lancer needs backpressure

The AT issue is the shiftpoints- they're way too soon. So that'll slow you down right there. Then there's the issue I've been preaching for years: backpressure. People don't freaking believe me when I say a small engine needs at least the cat and no bigger than 2.25" piping (and for basic mods this only helps way up in the RPM range, but you don't really get that because your AT is shifting early). Sorry, that's a hotbutton issue for yours truly

If you removed the 2nd cat (tht is, if you're running a "test pipe"), put ithe cat back where it was. Get some intake-side and fuel management mods: Throttle body, IM, piggyback of some sort. Got to a SRI with a ram air duct from the front fender. Are you removing the trunk liner, tools and spare? Did you take the two heavy roller thingys off the front bumper? Do all that and you just saved like 60#. You'll still be slower than most MTs but at least you'll be a little faster on the drag strip.

Last I heard they were an engine vibration damper. I have had mine off for over a year and haven't noticed any negative results.

the roller things behind the bumpers? I thought those were crash gaurd things, helping somehow if you crash. But BTW how did you manage to get a cold air intake on an auto? cutom piping? But you will get better low end with a short ram. for a lancer with anything short of a turbo, you definately dont need any more than a nice muffler to open it up a bit and get a good sound, any more than that doesnt really help (aside from headers or DP).

That's the other guess, but we couldn't figure out how they'd help in a crash. I guess I should maybe check the service manual when I get home I can't see them being mandatory and I haven't seen them on any other car I've crawled under.... but I could be wrong- DEAD WRONG!!!! <cue cheesey horror music>

What are your 1/4 mile times? Because that's the orig poster's issue; it feels fine on the street but his stip numbers are leaving a lot to be desired.
