It Works!!**Pics page 2**Evo VIII spoiler clear coat remover in a can...
Well, came across this can the other day at good 'ol Wal-Mart. It's made by W.M. Barr & Co. Inc in Memphis, TN. It's called Klean-Strip Peeler Base Coat/Clear Coat Paint Remover. Let me note what the can says...
*Removes overspray & spills from spray guns & work areas
*Removes damaged clear coats
*Removes paint delams
Use on vehicles where the top coat paint has separated from factory-applied primer.
*Removes paint in minutes
*Spray on - blow off
*No need for sanding or razor blades
Lifts automotive clear coat and base coat w/o harming the primer
*Of course, it's flammable
Okay, now on to the part that kinda has me worried... Under the NOTE section it reads : Do not apply on plastic or any other synthetic surfaces. Reading that, does it mean that it could have an ill-effect on the carbon fiber during clear coat removal? Or should I just start with a small patch and just wait and see what happens?
...And no, this isn't selling a product I make or even represent; so don't even think about closing this thread. This could be the easiest answer to every EVO spoiler owner's dilemma, including mine. I'll post before and afters once I get this project on a roll...
BTW, for $4.50 I couldn't pass it up!
Thx

^^^I'd thought of that too...
I'd just spray the world's crappest clear coat off the top of the CF, nothing else. Everything else is holding up fine... Any opinions on whether it'd damage the CF or not??? It's off a 2003 Evo BTW.

^^^Again, it's the 2003 OEM CF center section Evo VIII spoiler and I'd only use it on the very top of the spoiler where all the cracking and peeling is happening...

the cf is in a resin this product would most likely have an ill affect on the resin. If you have an 03 wing the entire wing including the side post are all cf. try this at your own risk. But be ready to buy a new wing.
