Ses
Ses
On my way to work this morning the SES light came on. It's an '03 OZ with 66,000 mi. and a 5 sp.
I went to Autozone after work today and they put their ODB 2 scan tool on it. It brought up the code P0421. Warm Up Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1).
It seems to me that would have something to do with the cat converter or one of the o2 sensors.
Autozone also erased the code, so no the SES light isn't on. I'm not sure which one to start with.
Oh, and the car was warmed up to normal operating temp. I was about 6 miles into my commute if that has anything to do with it.
I also haven't done any recent work to the car nor do I have any mods.
Any help would be appreciated.

If I'm not mistaken, there is a recall on this code, bring it in for service and theyll perform it. Theyll reflash your ECU, and from what I've read it seems like all it does in keep your RPMs higher during idle.
Get it done again then.
What it's basically saying is that your first cat (the one inside the stock header) has failed. So you can either try and get the recall done (again?) or you can try something like the RRM CEL fix and work around it.

The recall is generally tied to your VIN number. I'm fairly sure that'll he'll be in the
system. That's like saying the cop you just blew by can't radio to the cop down the street.
oh wel
try anywayz. then if they refuse you just fake a heart attack and they will do it out of pity while your being loaded up in an ambulance. tell them your last dying wish is to have the car fixed.

Also another question. Since the guy erased the code after he scanned it, how do I know if I fixed the problem? Will it still pick up the code even if the SES light isn't on? Since it's off right now, how long before it comes back on?
Thanks guys.
Shouldn't take long.
Erasing the code doesn't fix the problem. Trust me. When I had a header on my Subaru, I got the CEL every 100 miles. I drove around with a OBD-II scanner on the passenger seat.
