Hood Liner Question.
Ok so in a quest to figure out why my passenger side sprayer nozzel wouldnt work i had to remove the liner from the underside of my hood. (side note if you have a strut tower bar and the NSC engine damper you could possibly pinch the passenger side sprayer tube . . . that only took me a frikin hour to figure out.) So my question. What is the purpose of that liner under the hood ? Is it only sound deadening ? I removed it and cant figure out for the life of me what it was for. My engine is maybe 1 db louder now, no big deal. Anyone have ideas ?

I was told it also acts to help put out an engine fire. the clips that hold it up melt and allow it to fall on the fire. not too sure on if it still serves to do that today.

i wouldnt use regular dynamat that you buy at best buy or whatever if you went that route, they have stuff made for the inside of your hood that will probabaly sound deaden and heat resist better than the stock crap

Dynamat actually does make a specific "hoodliner" material that has a metallic film coating on the side that would be toward the engine (to help with heat deflection) and also uses a foam type material (which should deaden sound). Not too horibly expensive, and really easy to install if you take your time.
