Hood Liner Question.

Dynamat actually does make a specific "hoodliner" material that has a metallic film coating on the side that would be toward the engine (to help with heat deflection) and also uses a foam type material (which should deaden sound). Not too horibly expensive, and really easy to install if you take your time.

I really wouldn't bother.
I have a 69 Camaro with a V8 and no hood liner, and I haven't had a problem. My friend had a heavily-worked WRX with no liner, no problems. I really can't imagine our little Lancer motor damaging the paint.
