+12V Sources???

I'm in the middle of finally installing my MS2. Everything is wired in except for my +12V power source. I need to find a +12V source that is constant through cranking. All the power sources I've located drop to 0 while cranking.

Anyone have a viable source for the power supply needed?

yea the battery is an option. I was hoping to find a source inside the cabin.

My battery is in the trunk, I would need approx 9-10ft of wire to hook it up there.

Use the "constant Power wire from your cd player radio (the yellow one, not the red one.)

why is your battery in your trunk?

Im not an electrician by any means, but any constant should stay constant. there should be no reason for it to drop to 0 when cranking. i mean, it WILL drop some no matter what because the car uses a lot of amps to crank and that takes away from the total current of the system momentarily. in theory you should still have a detectable drop in voltage/amperage even when hooked directly to the battery. but again, i dont see why it should go to 0. .

Do not tap a fuse as this is the getta way of getting power. It looks cheap and the wires can easy pull out...

You can get a 12v source behind the radio but that wire is only about 22 gauge, and you will be running more than was intended on that line.

I would tap into the 12v wire under the steering column as this is heavy gauge and will hav plenty of current to supply whetever you need.

I dont remember what the wire color is for this, I think its white/black..but dont hold me to it.

I forgot about that. yeah there are some decent guage wires that go to the ignition. i think its actually two seperate +12v constant powers. . .

My battery is in my trunk to make room for my intercooler piping.

I need a constanst power supply to power my megasquirt ECU WHILE cranking since it controls fuel injection/igniton upon startup.

my Zeitronix/EBC is hooked up to the 12V in the steering/ignition column. Would it be safe to run the MS2 off this source aswell? WOuld I need a new fuse?

how much power is this thing supposed to pull? i mean the ignition wires are pretty serious stuff compared to the wires behind the radio.
