Time to quit on my Lancer?
Hey bro I wouldn't get rid of it simply because of how much time you have put in to it if I spent more time on my car working on it then driving it in a year I would keep it because it is a part of me. I couldn't do it, but that's my opinion, so if you are going to part it out I'll buy some parts off of you, and come pick them up I'm only 15 mins from philly.
Ok so tomorrow the car is going in for some installs:
RRM motor mounts
Sparco steering wheel/momo hub (made for evo but hey it fits)
RRM big bore fuel rail
RRM lower tie bar
Taylor Battery relocation
Sparco Hoodpins
Then we ship it to philly dyno works and have this bad boy tuned. i gotta have a CLT/compression test done cuz ive got oil in my #1 cylinder and hopefully i didnt fry a piston ring.
IF i did... well then im gonna need to some parts from RRM. after having a week to think about it, im not gonna give up on my baby that easily. I'll get pics for you all

Sooooo yeah I wanted to verify the whole project cost thing because it seems like there were a lot of questions regarding that. 35K USD is probably about what I spent on this project total, which includes the cost of the vehicle. I bought the vehicle used, one year old with 25k miles on it for about 10k total when all was said and done, with taxes titles etc...
And what about the other 25k, you might ask? Especially since I admit that asthetics have not been my priority, I don't have fancy rims or a nice paint job, no body kit... I actually do most of my installs myself, which you'd think would cut down costs... and it does, but just not as much as I'd like. The biggest one time expense for the vehicle was the super charger kit. This was a little beyond my skill level so I had it professionally done. The kit was about 4500, but I blew about 10 grand total on that visit to the shop having various smaller things done. Obviously dyno tuning, electronic diagnosis, I bought nice guages, wideband 02, some underglow to please the rice gods, and even more crap I can't remember.
Also this # includes recurring costs, such as rotors and pads, tires, replacement parts like alternators and suspension components. Normally I would not include this in project costs, but because I race pretty much constantly with SCCA and NHRA, I eat through these parts consistantly and end up costing me sizable amounts.
So the easiest way for me to present how these costs became so astronomical... here's a mods list.

That's how you spend that much on a lancer... and it's about to be 10 grand more. I probably forgot some small things, but you get the point. I'd just like to convey to you all that I'm not some rich kid, I simply have extremely poor money management skills. That money was the savings I made while serving active duty in the Army. I was gonna use it for a down payment on a house, but... can't win em all.

^ WOW all that crap and no Turbo? why even bother... Go turbo first, and then work your way around that.
I've always said it to everyone. Invest your money in your engine and work your way out.. ( that's if you plan on keepin' your car for a very long time, like me...:wink

well he is supercharged...but you can always get more out of a turbo. Nice list. Thats insane, but yeah I definately wouldnt get rid of it now, that would just be money down the drain.
well shingen i gotta look kinda presentable. the interior is all functional, i mean like racing seats and harnesses are a must. i didnt need to get sparco but hey, might as well go all out. im just saying this is not a show car...
with all that I wouldnt get rid of it. like was just said. money down the drain... at this point this is somthing you keep for the long haul.... even if you have to save for a while or even change the entire reason for the car (strip it completely and make it into a fwd weekend racer).... it would be a complete waist on your part to sell it now i think...
A guy in my car club has two cars he works on and is looking for a third... when he kinda gets bored modding one he doesnt just sell it to buy another... waist of his money. He keeps it then gets another... (87 rx7, 91 corrado g60)
