Gas Guage
I think the Evos had a thread like this saying how far have you gone once the warning light came on. Might search, but my reading of that and mine experience would dictate a 1-2 gallon buffer there. Closer to 2 gal though...
dunno if this happens to anyone else but i've found that when my first warning light comes on i can ignore it because it just goes back off again and the needle moves back up a little. i get at least another 1/2 hour of driving in before it comes back on again, and then i still have the 2 gal buffer to go fill up.
mine will turn on and then after not driving it might turn of, but not for long
i don't see the point in driving until your gas light turns on, unless your really poor or bored and want to see how long till your car shuts down
you might as well get a 3 cylinder geo, my sister can drive for like a month on a full tank (no joke)

Suppose to be 2 gal once it's constatly on. If it turns on and then off you have 3 gals left =).. Yesterday i put gas and the needle was right above E and when i filed it up i put 12.96 gals that was a close one

Keep in mind that sharp inclines/declines (slopes) will effect the reading on your gas gauge. I park uphill and my gauge will drop from the 1/8th mark to the 0 mark (not quickly but 1/8 when I park and when i get back in the car the next day it will think there is 0 gas).
well i have drove my car for about 13 miles after my light came on, i live way out in the middle of nowhere and my light came on when i was pulling into my drive on night and i had to drive 13 miles to get to the nearest open gas station. but obviously it depends on ur mods and how hard u drive it.
Just a dumb idea - get a five gallon gas can, fill it up, and test it. Go three times until you run out of gas, take the average, call it a day.
As I recall, you have about 2 gallons. That's a good 50 miles. Still, when it comes on, get to the gas station.

On a more serious note, I vote that no one actually finds out the answer to this question, because when people start relying on the fact that we get 50 miles more out of our tank, someone is bound to be screwed in the deal.
Your gas milage isnt increased enough (from saving the few Kgs) to justify the risk of being stranded.
The 1st half goes slower, because you overfill the car. But then again, the amount you're able to overfill, might be equal to the amount in the reserve?
