custom built CAI for a 02 OZ?

ok i was talking to my cousin and he said it would be cheaper to custom build by mandrel bend pipes and then just by a K&N filter. so my question is is that the right way to go and if so how would i do that. what are the measurments and all that info so i can maybe get that going?

only issue doing it yourself is going to be making the flange to attach the MAF. you do NOT want to mess that up.

the MAF is that black box looking thing attached to your intake before the throttle body. It measures the amount of air entering the intake. If you look inside youll see a honeycomb looking mesh, DO NOT TOUCH IT! You mess that up youre done Cheapest . . Id say buy a cheap ebay intake and put a better filter on it. anyone else have suggestions for him ? and btw you cant do a CAI if you have an auto lancer.

I agree. buy a ebay CAI set-up, basically just to get the MAF adapter. Then buy a really good filter like a K&N.... call it done. check the classified on this site. sometimes guys are selling theirs.

first thing to get familiar with the search feature up top^^^ it will a lot more helpful than asking, you will find 99% of questions have already been asked and answered.

In relation to the intake. Save some money and don't bother with a CAI. go to autozone get a $15 MAF adapter, and a $40 K&N filter. Then stick them on the stock intake tube. This is a million time easier and cheaper. Plus you don't run the risk of sucking up water with a CAI.
Difference between CAI & SRI on our car is ZERO.

yeah i was reading about that in the search thingy but nothing was really what i wanted. i wanted to know more about custom making one and bending tubes but it seems like that would be a waste of time. so just buy MAF adapter+K&N filter= good stuff!! lol thanks.

Autozone and Advance (or whatever is local to you) have started selling MAF adapters. Give that a check before you shop eBay. Sometimes it's cheap and easy to shop the local stores...

Those MAF adaptors are for hondas (go figure). I checked already and they won't fit. Search ebay for Boms Lancer intake. Dont buy the whole thing, go to their ebay store and get the MAF adaptor only (like $10-$15 i think), then buy a K&N filter. cheapest way to go with just as much performance as anything else.

I've seen different sizes for different models. Probably varies by store...
