No, you wouldnt be dropping it all at once. Lancers exhaust is split into 4 parts; front cat/header, down pipe, second cat, cat back. The down pipe is on hangers holding up the cat so dont even touch that. Touch only the stuff you need to. Once you get under the car you'll see...

So buying not in specific an RRM header, will eliminate cat numero uno correct? Bolting up to stock DP. Using if working ok current 02 sensors. and install 2nd oxy sensor into CEL eliminator and screw into 2nd cat or test pipe if equipped.

Im highly interested in eliminating P0421 code with a new header, scrappin my old catty and hooking up the 2nd 02 sens to the cel eliminator, and figured hell why spend extra $$$ on oem rubbish when i can go with looks, minor performance and more money in my pocket right?

Im just tryin to get the jist of what items i'll need, how to do it, and how to avoid a CEL, or a pending CEL before my INSP expires

You can get the "nut from hell" off with just a socket and a wrench with a woble extention on it.

First put the socket on the nt by hand, next put the woble in the socket as best you can and take it off.
Pretty easy.

I just used this method on my 2002 OZ and it worked great.

I can't get the "nut from hell" off!!!!!! I've tries the rope and peel back method and the thing just won't budge. I've managed to strip the nut a little now.... so thats great. I was wondering if anybody took the power steering pump (or whatever is blocking the nut) off to get better access to it. I just wanna know what bolts need to be taken off.

Youve started to strip it?! Are you using a socket wrench? I've taken that thing off about 20 times no problem.

Peel that sh*t back. Dont be scared for that thin piece of metal. bend it up and stick that socket in there! I never heard of anyone taking off the pump so I wouldnt go that route.

Theres no way i can get a socket wrench in there... i can only get a box wrench but the 14 mm one i have is kinda short and i can't get enough force on it. So i'm gonna soak the nut with pb blaster and get a longer wrench i guess... and maybe try and heat the nut up with a torch. f*** i hate this nut! I woulda had my header on in 15 minutes if i coulda got to it with the socket and breaker bar. Ah... maybe i'll try a wobble extension.. I'll get it one way or another. Thanks for the help.

Yea take the timing cover off to slip a wrench in there or knotch the power steering bracket with a die grinder to get the socket straight down in there. This bolt is an issue for anything or everything you do when you are removing the stock exh. manifold.

Finally installed it!

Got my obx header and downpipe in today. I took the advice and notched the power steering bracket enough to get a socket in there. It took about 20 minutes to get the notch big enough to get in there but it worked beautifully! Now i'm running catless and the car is LOUD as hell. I can feel a difference after about 3500 rpm. I'm just stoked the header is finally on the car and not sitting in the back seat anymore just wanted to thank you guys for the advice. Next - rrm piggyback

Piggy will do you well but make sure you get some back pressure. You need a second cat (HF cat.) You will have better overall power and not just top end power. Trust me on this. Seen it a million times on Lancers.

Piggyback will bring things to life. You will see reponsiveness improve below 3500 rpms and even 5% ish better mileage. Piggy is tried and true for 7 years now.

*scratching head*

He asked about the gaskets, not the piggyback.
