Exclamation 2008 Lancer ES Preview

Hey Everyone,

Mitsubishi was kind enough to send us over a new 2008 Lancer ES to write a review about and post it on EvoM. I wanted to find out from everyone here what they would like me to focus on, in case there was something that wasn't featured anywhere else. Here's what I have planned for the car so far:

- Street test drive w/ pics and video
- Getting detailed shots of the car on the lift
- Complete shots of the interior, engine bay, etc.
- Dyno results
- 1/4 times

If there's something else you want to add to the list, please post it here. Also make sure that you post your responses before Saturday (the 10th) so I will have enough time to get everything done.

Thanks,
Ali

The problem is no one has had the car to develop parts for it. Remember this is a 2008, which isn't out yet. Basically anything that's stock related, I can do.

Can you take shots of the engine bay after removing those plastic covers so we can see what the engine actually looks like.
Also how about a video of the engine reving, maybe when it's on the dyno or something. Would be nice to hear what the 4b11 sound like.
Thanks.

Okay so far the items I'm adding to the list above are:

- 0-60 times
- video of the car on the dyno and specifically a video of the motor reving.

I want this to be a good review, so keep the suggestions coming.

So this is an ES, not an Evo. I'd be interested on seeing a review on how the shift paddle behind the steering wheel feels to the driver and what your take is on it.

The ES we are getting will be manual. We will be getting a GTS pretty soon which will have the new transmission. I'll post up a new thread about the GTS a few days before we get it.

That's a good idea! I'll have to figure out how we can set that up to get accurate results. I'll add it to the list, but if we can't set it up correctly then we may not be able to do it.

Its an ES, not a GTS - so it won't have the paddle shifters.

IS the car an auto or a CVT? Driving impressions with either. How the car sounds at idle and at speed, what the stock radio is like. Weigh it. Burn a whole tank of gas for MPG.

im sure the stopwatch method will be accurate enough for the deceleration tests, but the distance test would take a bit more to set up. should try to get them from the same speeds as the decel test.
