So i just got back from Plano Texas last tuesday, and wanted to share that we can achieve high gas mileage on the highway! I got 35 mpg going down, and i was doing around 70+ the whole way. On the drive back from Texas, i got around 33 mpg. Went a little faster that time. around 80+ the whole way. And no i don't drive like a grandma, but i don't slam the pedal either.

 

Last year, 2 weeks after I got mine, I drove down to Florida. Early June, middle of the day, hot as hell, A/C cranked full, 80+mph, and got 33mpg. Last fall I got 35mpg driving through the mountains in eastern TN/western NC doing 85+. And nobody would accuse me of babying the accelerator.

 

He he he he...my wife's new EX gets 40 on a regular basis.

 

I'm assuming you guys have manual tranny's, the best I've gotton so far was 31.something (don't remember) driving to Vegas from San Diego, and I have an auto. 70mph all the way with cruise controll.

Yep, manual here. I could probably get even better out on the open highways, but like I said, I don't baby it.

 

Damn, maybe cause I'm a fatass, 6'1" 285lbs, guess that's alot of weight for that little car to handle!

 

Well, Jason, you got some weight on me, 5'11" 155lbs. But, the time I got 35mpg+ was on a trip with the kids, so there were 4 people and associated luggage in the car. The trip to FL I had the trunk and back seat full of stuff.

 

Hehe course on the way back from plano Texas on the second tank of gas. I saw a yellow lancer oz ahead of me on the highway. So i thought this could be fun and i hit the gas, took the car up to 100mph and went by the other lancer. Turns out it was some older lady. Oh well I only got about 30mpg because of that experience.
