Muffler Question

Alright, I just got my catback, magnaflow HFC, and a big magnaflow resonator. I have this muffler on there too which I bought brand new. http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=main&id=782 . The car sounds alright cruising and barely on the throttle but anytime it gets past say 2500 or 3000 RPM's it sounds like a HUGE fart can. The exhaust as as loud as I wanted it to be although even though I double the size of the resonator the exhaust volume doubled.. Anyway, very annoying, buzzing sounds coming from back by the muffler... I am embarrased to drive the car really. With the windows up it is hard to hear but with them down it is very noticable. Other people in cars behind/beside also said it sounds terrible. No leaks or anything from what I can tell. I guess I might just look at a different muffler?

Greddy
Flowmaster
Apexi
Tanabe
Borla
????

Anyone have any opinions? Also straight through or not? I know straight through would add a little riceiness. Thanks

How big is your piping?

I have that muffler but the race series version. When I got my Magnaflow HFC, it seemed to sound like how you're describing. The sound probably at least doubled in volume, but I also added a header and downpipe.

I have a friend who had that muffler on his cavy. It sounds like what you are describing. I think it might have something to do with that double wall tip. Makes it sound ricey. My greddy has a 4 inch tip and when its still cold my car sounds kinda ricey in the higher rpms.

I don't know but I paid $150 for it so tomorrow I am taking it by the muffler shop and telling them that something NEEDS to be done. It sounds like a 100% pissed off bumble bee and is fairly loud (I don't mind the loud as long as it is moderately deep and fairly smooth). Anyone have a borla universal muffler on their car??? I have 2.25" piping. I don't know if I want to switch to one of the ones mentioned above. HKS, APEXi, and Borla all sound like they are AWESOME mufflers but anyone have experience with them on their cars?

I think that's normal for magnaflow systems with header and such. Greddy is loud, but deep and it doesn't buzz at all.

so I won't get that ricey sound? I mean this is civic, fart can sound, not kinda ricey 4 cylinder sound. Do you know if RRM is selling any more of those mufflers?

Get a muffler with a bigger canister (body). Mine is freakin huge but most of it is hidden behind the bumper cause of the offset tip.

I have the 2.25" magnaflow cat-back that I ordered from RRM. I like the sound and allways get compliments on how it sounds. Can be a little raspy at real low rpm and is loud at WOT but overall it sounds good. highway drone isnt bad to me as well. Greddy i hear does have a deaper tone and smoother tone to it though.

Once you get a header, they're all loud. If you want I can get a sound clip tomorrow.

I think mine's oval, not sure though. It's whatever comes on the catback.
