OK This is the low down aluminum disapates heat quicker then steel and by air cooling the block it would greatly improve performance cooler motor = better performance so def on the venting BUT, nothing completely over bearing and gody.
I agree Rob some small side vents would look pretty sweet that new shark nose is going to make it difficult to blend a new design into the hood with out taking away from the look of the car. This is going to be a r+d project that might take up some time and money.

I know that hood would look hideous, I was using it for an example of where the vents could be, but nothing like those vents please.
And now that I actually look at the car, I can't really see where you could put vents without going against the shape or flow of the car.

OK, just messing around with paint here, but what if, you raised the hood a tiny bit where it already goes up (like the difference between the mazda6 and mazdaspeed6 hoods) and put a vent on each side where it slopes up? The only other thing I could think of was an Evo style vent that was size matched to the front grill. I put both styles on the same picture. What do you think?

Again, just messing around to throw out ideas besides OEM style.
