Buying a Evo VI in US! LHD
If you are going to buy the Evo 6/7 as a daily driver in the US, you wont be too thrilled.
Have to fill up every 200 miles, the stiff suspension(if unchanged) will just jar you on the crappy roads in the US.
Living in a big city with the traffic going at 20mph doesnt make use of the Evo either.
If you are just going to drive on the highways, just get a commuter car and save the Evo for a weekend jaunt. That's my advice
Evo7 costs only USD23k from Japan and will sell for less than $30k next year. Dont be a fool and pay $50k now for a car that you can get next year for much less. You also have to pay a luxury tax for cars above $40k(?) i think.
Claudius/MichaelK mean well but they dont live here in the US and dont drive in the cities here and so they dont know what it means and how US commuters are like.

I agree 100%.
However, I would have thought that people who are interested in an Evo know where it excels and where it doesnt. If you need a car for daily USA street use / traffic etc, it's pretty obvious you wont need an Evo. I am therefore talking about where you need one, since that's what it's made for. Maybe a good USA example is that Dragon road where the Subarus meet, or a twisty track.
Nobody can pass an Evo on a twisty road and not many cars can pass a Porsche GT2 / Ferrari Maranello on the highway. That's all I'm saying.

And yes I do have to fill up every 190-200 mi if used solely on the street, slightly more if highway (220-230-240).
You can always have fun with a car no matter where you live, you just have to be prudent and smart about it.
When I get my Evo7, I intend to modify it and still use it on the street as a commuter car, along with my bimmer (until I can't afford the 2 cars anymore, which I hope won't happen).
But when I AutoX / Track my car(s), that's where all the fun and happiness comes

paying 50k for a mitsubishi is the stupidest most ridiculous idea i have ever heard when it comes to buying cars...just look at the 3000gt vr4...45 grand for that overweight hunk of **** that breaks down every damn day of the week. eclipses....crankwalk......geez doesnt seem like mitsubishi has had much success when it comes to fast cars...hm also heard some problems about warping rotors and whatever on evos too...oh well...ur decision but i sure as hell would get a z06...oh but then again im nto a 40 year old having a midlife crisis so i guess im not allowd to buy one...
m3 aint a bad idea either...even better idea would get an e36 m3 and dinan supercharge it...thatll jus cost about 30 grand and u got an even faster car...e36s m3s are damn good handlers as well...they are often used on tracks...but obviously is no match for the evo because of its all encompassing ability as if god himself has been reincarnated into it...so clearly there is only one choice...the evo 7, which for some reason seems to out handle any car on the earth thats compared to it...
oh but seirously...think about what ur doing...50k on a sub 30k car thatll be available in 10 months...i hope ur not an accountant or anything like that...

$50k?! Are you insane? Evolution imports just qouted me $36,500 for an EVO VII RSII, Japanese spec w/AYC,Active center diff. and 280hp. Not to mention they're street legal in California. For
$48,900 they'll throw in the fully programable Motec ECU.

I have a Red EVO VII RS-II on order with Evolution Imports for US$36,500. I did upgrade from a M4 Motec to a M48 Pro so that is in addition to the 36,500. The next lot of cars will be more expensive. So if you want a new EVO VII in the US, I would call EI soon. They may have more RS-II left at the 36,500 price, I don't know.
This will be my daily commuter and weekend autox/ track day car. I am sure I will enjoy it every minute of it.
Does anyone NEED 300 hp in a street car. No. But I wanted a performance car. As long as the seats and control relationships are good in a car that ia all I need.
The chance to buy one of the most thouroghly developed performance cars in the world (the STi being the other) I just could not pass up. I've been in an older STi in Japan I will never forget it. I believe the EVO will be bettter. I cannot wait.
